Btw, this is an awesome curse to find in the early game:

It makes your skin harder to damage, but conduct electricity. +20 free AC makes life significantly easier for any fighting adventurer.

(Enter to select, ESC) Command for a Dagger (1d4) (+0,+0) {cursed}:
Found lying on the floor at 50 feet (level 1)

It makes your skin harder to damage, but conduct electricity.
    It occasionally summons a demon.
It occasionally makes a loud noise.

Do curses qualify? Otherwise, that item 1-6 has been vanished.

It's easy to get a 6 feeling on 50ft from something you will not even notice. A simple Halberd +0 +0 will do (base depth 25).

No, money never contributes to the feeling.

Also, it's impossible to comment all caps for ferocity, vBulletin lowercases everything.

Do 'out-of-depth' money piles really trigger a high level feeling?

I started a Half-Elf Paladin ironman on angband.live and got 1-6 on 50ft. Went on to map EVERY square and only thing even remotely close to 'good treasures' was 200 AU sapphire pile. There were no monsters that can pick up stuff from the floor or destroy it. The very best item on the floor was a dagger (+3,+4)

Problem here is not having a level feelings option on. I know there are plenty of useless items that can trigger it and make a buffoon like me waste his time on the first goddamn level. But money piles? This feature benefits absolutely no-one and should be removed.

Also: if I'm wrong and money doesn't trigger it and I somehow have missed something, please counter ferociously.

Dwarf priest on 900'. Had an issue with breeders (fruit flies), so portaled away. Took out my lantern for resting (to save fuel), inventory was full so overflowed onto floor. R& and crashed. I've had overflowing light sources + resting before, first time it crashed on me though. Shame as a I had a 3-7 feeling and found "ESP.

[Edit] Nevermind, reloaded and found out I got the same level so nothing was lost, I have another chance to stop those pesky fruit flies
I don't suppose you still have a savefile from this?

When I noticed it dying, I downloaded the official 4.1.2, but it dies in the same way. It is of course possible that maybe whatever the problem is wouldn't have happened in the first place on 4.1.2, but I don't know exactly how I got into this situation, so I don't know exactly how to reproduce it "from scratch".
Do you still have your randart file for this? It should be randart_06e7628e.txt in your archive directory.

    EDIT: Doesn't matter, I have a workaround.

Don't really know, but it seemed worth mentioning.
OK, thanks, I'll follow this up at some point.

Seems to be bugged and produce crashes.

No, it is surely some persistent but in the object code.

No, I played the game "straight". It is perhaps worth noting that there are a couple of other wand of annihilation lying on the ground nearby that used to be in my inventory and that I had dropped there during the preceeding turns. I think maybe it has something to do with the particular square I drop it in (? maybe?), but I don't really know.

If you think this is a random failure (e.g. a bad disk write during a save or something), I'm certainly willing to accept that judgement.
