    Hellpit is easy:
    - wait until Huan wakes up and tramples all other monsters
    - TO Huan
    - grab loot

sorry what? you say, you don't have a scroll of mass banishment? well, you should have thought of that before.
Provided this doesn't happen... "Read ?Mass Banishment ... You die."

As long as you have ESP, you can do it without earthquake or destruction. Dig a small antisummoning closet offset from the entrance, open the vault, and tactically entice the monsters out and into your killing zone. It takes patience and careful play, but it can be done. In fact, I try never to use destruct except for the Morgoth fight or as a last ditch effort to avoid death.

Hey Nick, can we just remove that one from the game? I don't think it adds anything really.

Not a bug but... what's the point of this? There's an !Exp in there, but I can get one faster just by continuing to explore.

Pete: Agreed on both counts, which is why I said it should act like Clairvoyance, which does fuzzy object detection (or did, last time I checked). I was obliquely trying to say that having the Arkenstone do detection instead would mean that its activation was not strictly superior to the activations of the Phial and the Star. Given that the activations are the primary utility of the standart light sources*, the activations really ought to be clearly placed along the player power curve rather than being sidegrades of each other.

    * IMO we could happily get rid of their stat boosts, resists, etc., and just leave them with a light radius and an activation.

Agreed, the Arkenstone should act like the priest spell Clairvoyance. IMO it's important (or at least traditional) that the standart light sources have a clear sense of progression, with the new one always obsoleting the previous one.

Edit: this can't be right. ID'ed a set of Elvenkind boots (with no pvals) from across the dungeon with the Arkenstone. That's too powerful. It's OK with *Enlightenment*, but not things that are relatively common like ordinary Enlightenment and Arkenstone. This is too godlike.
Arkenstone was changed from Detection to Enlightenment when the Palantir was removed. Or do you mean it gets the full enlightement effect, like the one from potions? In that case it's clearly a bug, it should only give fuzzy enlightenment.

Not a bug since their pval is fixed. It's there, but not shown.

Yeah, agreed, it was changed in all the shuffle with removing detection. I'm inclined to put it back to detect all, like Holhenneth - maybe with full rather than fuzzy object detection.

The terminology can be confusing - current master means the nightlies (technically the nightlies are builds of the current development version, or master branch). That is quite different from 4.0.5, which is the current official version.

that's not on the current master, is it? must be some nightly you are playing. the arkenstone as it is now does not identify treasures, just maps the level + Dtraps in your area.
