Not a bug, but just out of curiousity, when did the Arkenstone's activation get converted to full Enlightenment, rather than partial?
Edit: this can't be right. ID'ed a set of Elvenkind boots (with no pvals) from across the dungeon with the Arkenstone. That's too powerful. It's OK with *Enlightenment*, but not things that are relatively common like ordinary Enlightenment and Arkenstone. This is too godlike.Last edited by Pete Mack; January 11, 2017, 10:43.Comment

Yeah, agreed, it was changed in all the shuffle with removing detection. I'm inclined to put it back to detect all, like Holhenneth - maybe with full rather than fuzzy object detection. Not a bug, but just out of curiousity, when did the Arkenstone's activation get converted to full Enlightenment, rather than partial?

The terminology can be confusing - current master means the nightlies (technically the nightlies are builds of the current development version, or master branch). That is quite different from 4.0.5, which is the current official version. One for the Dark Lord on his dark throne

Arkenstone was changed from Detection to Enlightenment when the Palantir was removed. Or do you mean it gets the full enlightement effect, like the one from potions? In that case it's clearly a bug, it should only give fuzzy enlightenment. Not a bug, but just out of curiousity, when did the Arkenstone's activation get converted to full Enlightenment, rather than partial?

Pete: Agreed on both counts, which is why I said it should act like Clairvoyance, which does fuzzy object detection (or did, last time I checked). I was obliquely trying to say that having the Arkenstone do detection instead would mean that its activation was not strictly superior to the activations of the Phial and the Star. Given that the activations are the primary utility of the standart light sources*, the activations really ought to be clearly placed along the player power curve rather than being sidegrades of each other.
* IMO we could happily get rid of their stat boosts, resists, etc., and just leave them with a light radius and an activation.Comment

Nah, leave it in. There are many vaults that have incredible danger, Castle Death comes to mind. The Hellpit is one such highly dangerous vault. But it isn't impossible. With the right gameplay, and situation, it is a great challenge.“We're more of the love, blood, and rhetoric school. Well, we can do you blood and love without the rhetoric, and we can do you blood and rhetoric without the love, and we can do you all three concurrent or consecutive. But we can't give you love and rhetoric without the blood. Blood is compulsory. They're all blood, you see.”

Well sure, you can use earthquake or destruction on big empty areas and waltz right in--if you are the right class. So it's either easy or too dangerous to attempt.
