He is making them for ToME4 NPCs, so those are ToME NPCs

The redhair in azure dress is Linaniil, the supreme archmage of Angolwen.

I'm not sure what you mean by the solar system though

Ah yes, back when I first started this thread, the tiles were meant for Angband only. As Angband lacked PNG support back then, and the fact that I was "hijacked" to paint for ToME, the majority of the tiles seen here as made specifically for ToME. But I'm almost done, and then I'll pick up painting the Angband specific tiles (though many of the ToME tiles can be used for both games as well), and as seen in another thread here, PNG support is being added these days for Angband!

These are really good. Is the top, second from the left in #170 a Feanorian lamp?

Thanks Nick! It's an alchemist's lamp, at least in ToME.

ToME no longer uses a Tolkien background (due to fears of the IP holders suing/shutting him down, presumably because he has a donation link). Though if the tiles get re-used in AVanilla I (second) the vote of that image for the Feanorean Lamp.

                        Shockbolt, these tiles are amazing.

Once FA has support for Shockbolt's tiles (ie when I can rip it off from Vanilla) I'll be using that for the Lamp of Gwindor.

My tiles will be made available for free, as long as any of the -bands/roguelike they're being used with remain free of use.

I just finished the last batch of tiles for ToME this morning, so now it's time to focus on the Angband specific tiles again, can't wait

I was messing around a bit with these today and found a few things...

                              1. These are presented on a background that is slightly larger than 64x64, so there will appear more tightly cropped when used in game.
                              2. Scaling them down to 32x32 just doesn't do them justice. I may have to splurge on a super sized monitor once this tile set is up and running.
                              3. Looking good, can't wait to see the full set!

                                1. Each separate tile is originally either 64x64 or 64x128, they may appear to be larger in the previews posted here as the backgrounds/dark cobblestone isn´t perfectly 64x64 pixels.

                                2. I´ve been working on these for months, but I gotta admit that I haven´t tried scaling them down to 32x32 yet. Once the 64x64 tileset for Angband is complete, I´ll probably downscale them to 32x32 applying some touches afterwards to optimize them. But as you say, they are meant for 64x64, being originally painted in 128x128 or larger.

                                3. Same here
