    Beats me.

I'll put that on the bug list

I've just had this too. Thought I was finally going to get a decent object... bah.

Ok... just killed Ulfast and he only dropped a good item too.

The wilderness vaults have so far failed to yield a single ego item (not that I've done loads but still).

No wonder this comp is so tough.

When inspecting weapons it seems to show how many blows you get with your current weapon rather than the one you are considering switching to.

Been through a few more wilderness vaults - still nothing. I've never seen levels with wilderness vaults have level feelings in white text before. I've also killed another player ghost zombie for another {good} item. I reckon there is something up with object generation.

              There are wilderness vaults??

Huh. Maybe I should treat the wilderness as something *other than just* to be navigated/avoided as fast as possible?

Edited: because I managed to omit the *section* above, hence inverting my intended meaning!

They used to be about the best way to quickly kit out a character. Now they seem to be just as dangerous, but with no reward.

It seems to be looking like that (not that any of my attempts have got far enough), but I can't understand why - object generation was one thing I pretty much didn't touch at all going from 1.1 to 1.2. I'll have to do some debug testing, I guess.

Not sure but it seemed like becoming hungry while rested did not break the resting. I nearly starved to death. Although I was wearing a perilous ring I had not ID'ed so if there is a hunger curse maybe that was it.

I guess the vaults *could* be because autoscum is off. Hence just {good} items and hence the poor level feeling. I'd be interested to hear if anyone has taken on a dungeon vault with guaranteed {excellent} gear yet (ewan, I'm looked at you!)? However {excellent} drops definitely seem to be broken.

I'm not used to playing the wilderness with autoscum off, but I've yet to see a feeling above good and I've spent over 300k turns so far and have been as far afield as Belegost and SV36. I saved in the middle of another orc vault (the one with food), so I'll see if it yields anything better when I resume later.

I'll also confirm what someone else said about the shops. Having now been to two full towns and three small towns, I can safely say that shop inventories are worryingly sparse everywhere I've been. I'm really struggling to collect healing and escapes. Aside from that, the two times I've bought a _Teleportation, it has got burnt/dissolved within about two minutes of leaving town. Hmph.

My sense is that dungeon drops are OK, but no systematic testing.

I have just had the game ask me to report a bug!

"Bad effect passed to do_effect(). Please report this bug."

I had just found something called the staff of Kelvar, and tried to activate it to see what it did (as the description is unrevealing).

Follow-up: I used a stray scroll of Recharging on the Staff of Kelvar; it added one charge, but also reverted it somehow so that in my inventory it is now just listed as "a Staff"

Fascinating indeed. But I'm going to drop it anyway .

I've been into debug mode and tried 'v' which should create great items... so far I've only got {good} from it. I think that confirms it!

Argh. Just recalled from Tol-in-Gaurhoth 61 (I think); selected 'do not replace' on my recall point, figuring that would make a new one - apparently not, I just lost it?

                              Grr.

OK, looks as though there is some problem with artifact magic devices; the wand 'Ilkhorin' has the same 'bad effect' issue.
