Competition 110 is now available from the competition page; it is an FAangband Adan Paladin.
I can't get the 32x32 tileset to work in FAA v123 (WinVista), it just defaults to 'old tiles'. Can I play the comp using v114 or is a fix imminent (or is it just me)?

It's not just you - it is a windows only bug, though. I have no idea why. The savefile will not work for 1.1.4, and I will try to work out what is happening and fix it; for now I think your only options are old tiles or ascii (or linux ).

On my win xp machine I'm seeing an automatic save file being created in the save folder, called "Arin." So I then have two save files, "110" and "Arin." If I open 110 (the starting save file), it writes over Arin and I've lost any progress in Arin. I haven't seen this with Vanilla or other variants. Is it intentional, able to be turned off?

It's more inertial than intentional - it came with O0.7.0 when I forked it, and I have never changed it. And I'm afraid it can't be turned off - you'll just have to remember to use the "Arin" one.

It's going to be sad to say goodbye to old-school FaA wiliderness, even if I did suggest it...
Two points on 1.23 (I've been playing 1.14 up to now):
1) Map grid movements: the new version is really jerky and distracting when moving at speed, even with the 'centre on player' option turned off. Any chance of the next version having an option to stick with grids and switching to the next grid when near the edge? (although I don't know if it'll fit with the new wilderness concept)
2) More of a general gameplay point: wilderness with disconnected stairs is nasty, verging on suicidal.
Out of interest, Nick - are the initial options the ones you use when playing? I think I changed about 80% of the interface options when setting up my pref file...
Some tips for this character (I'll put these on the comp page too):
To find the nearest dungeon, go south to Amon Rudh 15 and look for (white) stairs.
To see more wilderness info, look at the file worldmap.png in the top-level directory, or here.
To get the other town books, go to the Travelling Merchant (shop 0) and use the order command ("o").
A quicker way to get books, etc, is to head north to Gondolin (northwards four maps, then east one) but it's a tough trip to get there, esp. with trees taking two moves to get through (interesting that Edain get a forest fighting bonus but not a movement bonus)...

Have you played with the panel change factor ('p' on the options screen) ? Setting that to 0 will probably achieve what you want.

Not remotely. I can't recall the origins of this save file - I got one that had nearly complete monster memory - but I changed nearly all the initial options too.

When on a mountain top and prompted with "It's a cliff. really step off it?", answering no moves your character into the empty space while still remaining on the mountain top.
(edit) ... and there's an updated world map available here. Mostly, it just looks a little nicer and the town names have been added.
(edit)... and there's some screwiness with tiles and the screen not refreshing/updating properly. When a visible monster moves, it's previous location isn't erased, resulting in enemies being shown on screen that don't exist. Ctrl-r fixes the display in all cases, but it happens very frequently.

Slightly strange bug (albeit harmless) - repeatedly pressing 'n' after learning a prayer at C12, I got a message that I learned the prayer "Chant", despite not possessing the any spellbooks beyond the first one...
