    Well, that's a bug.

(edit) ... and there's an updated world map available here. Mostly, it just looks a little nicer and the town names have been added.
    Cool, thanks.

(edit)... and there's some screwiness with tiles and the screen not refreshing/updating properly. When a visible monster moves, it's previous location isn't erased, resulting in enemies being shown on screen that don't exist. Ctrl-r fixes the display in all cases, but it happens very frequently.
    Yeah, that's not altogether surprising.

Harmless, I guess, but not a good look.

I'll try to do some bugfixing over the next few days and get an improved version out. Thanks everyone for playtesting the beta

Shades of Wile E. Coyote. As long as he doesn't look down or reach down to feel the air under his feet, he will be OK.
If beauty is in the eye of the beholder, then why are beholders so freaking ugly?

Oddly enough, I had the same thought.

I can't reproduce this. Is it possible you have an old version of terrain.txt?

Possibly a gameplay 'feature' rather a bug but the '4' and '5' shops have typically 4-6 types of item rather than 20-25 types in previous (pre-1.2.x) versions.
In my first few (short) games, the like of ?Satisfy Hunger and ?Identify seem to have disappeared, in addition to !RestoreX...

I have noticed that starting shops seem a bit light on. I'm not sure why exactly - they do get more stock after a while, though.

                This competition is tough.

Not likely (unless it was in the distribution). I downloaded the fresh version to play the comp, and the only changes I've made have been to the graf-dvg.prf. I do however still have FA v114 on my computer, but it's in its own directory. The 123 version is different than 114, so I assume it's the right one. I'll keep you posted.

The problem persists even after deleting the 114 folder. Savefile attached (of character hanging out in mid-air). Can anyone reproduce this?

I don't get this. I just tested it on OSX and win XP; both times I could open your savefile, with Arin standing in midair, but as soon as I moved I got the cliff message and answering yes made her fall.

Does the entry in your terrain.txt file for empty space look like this?
                      Code:
                      # 0x77 --> special feature -- void

                      N:119:empty space
                      G: :D
                      P:2
                      F:LOS | PROJECT | FALL
D:Empty space - only flying creatures can pass across without falling. All
D:spells and missiles can pass through.

Maybe I wasn't clear earlier. Answering YES does make her fall (WAD). Try answering NO and you'll see the problem.

edit... and yes, the entry in terrain.txt matches exactly. She can't fly, can she?

Here may be another one: Arin can apparently create doors at will. Pressing 'c' and then a directional creates a closed door on the tile adjacent to @ in that direction. Of course the doors are no obstacle to giant fleas, but it does give Arin some control over line-of-sight.

1.2.4 is now up at the download page or on the Variants tab.

It fixes all current known bugs except the "learn a prayer you don't have the book for bug", which is relatively harmless.

If it's not too much trouble, can you delete my comp character from the comp ladder. I've got a better one that I can't post.
