Here may be another one: Arin can apparently create doors at will. Pressing 'c' and then a directional creates a closed door on the tile adjacent to @ in that direction. Of course the doors are no obstacle to giant fleas, but it does give Arin some control over line-of-sight.

edit... and yes, the entry in terrain.txt matches exactly. She can't fly, can she?

I don't get this. I just tested it on OSX and win XP; both times I could open your savefile, with Arin standing in midair, but as soon as I moved I got the cliff message and answering yes made her fall.

Does the entry in your terrain.txt file for empty space look like this?
    Code:
    # 0x77 --> special feature -- void

    N:119:empty space
    G: :D
    P:2
    F:LOS | PROJECT | FALL
D:Empty space - only flying creatures can pass across without falling. All
D:spells and missiles can pass through.

Not likely (unless it was in the distribution). I downloaded the fresh version to play the comp, and the only changes I've made have been to the graf-dvg.prf. I do however still have FA v114 on my computer, but it's in its own directory. The 123 version is different than 114, so I assume it's the right one. I'll keep you posted.

I have noticed that starting shops seem a bit light on. I'm not sure why exactly - they do get more stock after a while, though.

    This competition is tough.

Oddly enough, I had the same thought.

    Well, that's a bug.

(edit) ... and there's an updated world map available here. Mostly, it just looks a little nicer and the town names have been added.
    Cool, thanks.

(edit)... and there's some screwiness with tiles and the screen not refreshing/updating properly. When a visible monster moves, it's previous location isn't erased, resulting in enemies being shown on screen that don't exist. Ctrl-r fixes the display in all cases, but it happens very frequently.
    Yeah, that's not altogether surprising.

Harmless, I guess, but not a good look.

I'll try to do some bugfixing over the next few days and get an improved version out. Thanks everyone for playtesting the beta
