Damn - that's a universal bug. I'll try to get a fix done.

Also, I second the comment on the poor options settings. So complete is their screwiness that it's almost as if they were intentionally set wrong.

[QUOTE=Nick;59549]Have you played with the panel change factor ('p' on the options screen) ? Setting that to 0 will probably achieve what you want.

Perfect - that's much better and doesn't make me feel seasick Ta.

Out of interest, Nick - are the initial options the ones you use when playing? I think I changed about 80% of the interface options when setting up my pref file...
Not remotely. I can't recall the origins of this save file - I got one that had nearly complete monster memory - but I changed nearly all the initial options too.

    3. To get the other town books, go to the Travelling Merchant (shop 0) and use the order command ("o").
A quicker way to get books, etc, is to head north to Gondolin (northwards four maps, then east one) but it's a tough trip to get there, esp. with trees taking two moves to get through (interesting that Edain get a forest fighting bonus but not a movement bonus)...

It's going to be sad to say goodbye to old-school FaA wiliderness, even if I did suggest it...

Two points on 1.23 (I've been playing 1.14 up to now):

    1) Map grid movements: the new version is really jerky and distracting when moving at speed, even with the 'centre on player' option turned off. Any chance of the next version having an option to stick with grids and switching to the next grid when near the edge? (although I don't know if it'll fit with the new wilderness concept)

    2) More of a general gameplay point: wilderness with disconnected stairs is nasty, verging on suicidal.

Out of interest, Nick - are the initial options the ones you use when playing? I think I changed about 80% of the interface options when setting up my pref file...

It's more inertial than intentional - it came with O0.7.0 when I forked it, and I have never changed it. And I'm afraid it can't be turned off - you'll just have to remember to use the "Arin" one.

It's not just you - it is a windows only bug, though. I have no idea why. The savefile will not work for 1.1.4, and I will try to work out what is happening and fix it; for now I think your only options are old tiles or ascii (or linux ).
