Zappo is following my usual half troll warrior strategy of going straight to the bottom, no recall to the town ever, killing uniques and collecting artifacts. The only difference is that Zappo is a Hobbit mage! Using a combination of rift, wand of acid balls, and recharging, I just killed Sauron despite only being class level 41!

Is that a record? I'm going after Morgoth next, and then cleaning up the remaining uniques and artifacts. So far, 43 uniques killed including Sauron, Vecna, Huan, and the Witch King, from the tougher ones, and 62 artifacts collected. Hope to continue this amazing streak!

After the first post, I went down to fight Morgoth but couldn't even do one star worth of damage so I went back up to lvl 99 and fought for a while, using staff of summoning until I could get a wand of annihiliation. Then, I went back down and used rift, phase door, mass banishment, and the frequently recharged wand of annihilation to defeat the big guy.

I've never won at level 46 before, but I still have lots of work to do. I've killed 68 uniques and found 85 artifacts so far; now to go get the rest!
