I just returned to Angband after a hiatus of a few months, so I thought I'd try the latest dev version, with randarts on (which I hadn't tried in quite a while).

This diver was my first attempt, and it's been an interesting game. The early game felt quite hard because I was having difficulty killing very much (no enchant to-dam scrolls in the town) and I was only barely making enough money to buy the consumables needed to survive. The first turning point was at 1600', when I found a troll pit with a corridor leading to it conveniently blocked by a mold. I had two rods of light, so it was easy to clear most of the pit and gain nine levels. This was primarily useful because it gave me the teleport spell.

Then in quick succession (at 2200' and 2350') I found two great randarts (my current weapon and boots), each of which has +4 to con and speed. This has sped things up considerably.

I'm now strong enough to hang around at the bottom of the dungeon comfortably enough, but the lack of many resists is rather annoying... mainly confusion. With standarts, I'd almost certainly have Rohirrim or Isildur or Caspanion by now, and this wouldn't be a problem.
