Honestly, I don't know what to say. Everything is fine, but you just ran into some really bad monsters without knowing that they're that bad, it looks like. Don't hesitate to teleport, especially with multiple monsters in the area. Don't fight Undead after about dlvl 35. Hell, they're not worth it before. Rogues, like mages, must run away. Teleport is nice, and using the staff could have saved you.
Mostly, you were at the right depth, although there is no danger difference between 72 and 98. What you did wrong was get into a fight. With Telepathy you never need to get into a fight, and with a clvl 36 rogue with no CON and an average weapon you shouldn't get into a fight.

I can tell what you did wrong the clear more- option is asking for Death for the vast majority of the time.

Why should I stay away from undead after dlvl 35? Should I have kept to some earlier dlvls till con was maxed? Yeah, without auto clear more I might have had more time to notice I needed to get away. Thanks guys.

Nah, just avoid fighting undead. You can be as deep as you like as long as you know what to avoid and are capable of avoiding it. You were capable of avoiding it, but didn't know what to avoid. The only way to learn what to avoid is to die. Reading the forums helps, sure, but mostly dying.

Reason to avoid undead is that they have fairly nasty spells and have annoying melee effects. They don't drop many items like dragons do, too. Low CON only meant you had to be careful, not anything else. Same for speed.

Okay I'll try and avoid the undead from now on. So I should just try and kill things that have a chance to drop stuff and are easy to kill?

Yes and no. In general, you want to avoid, escape, or teleport other monsters that you do not resist. Many undead drain experience or deal lots of high-element or even unresistable damage (brain smashing, cause XYZ wounds, darkness, nether). Even worse, many undead drain xp, and the countering Hold Life only reduces the amount of xp you lose. On top of all that, big undead have the ability to summon and drain stats. Even in the very lategame, undead pits remain one of the most destruct- or avoid-worthy things out there, because you need so many high resists and access to Restoration or Banishment for the loot-collection to be anything worth what you'll be drained. And that's best case...worst case is dying.

If you end up finding a Rod of Restoration, you can keep it in your house and use it to regain lost xp, str, etc (remember that rod will only charge while you're carrying it).

*(awkward phrasing: i meant that there's no way to hold 100% of your experience against any xp drain attack)

You should probably take things a bit slower if you want to generate an initial winner. The time for fast diving is once you have a few wins under your belt.

If I were at 3600', I would like to have maxed stats, +20 speed (permanent), and most or all resistances covered. The following website gives an idea of what you need to survive at various depths. It's very conservative, but good for someone who wants to chalk up their first win.

There are also some monsters that you simply don't want to mess with unless you are ultra-powerful (i.e. 900+HP, 20+ speed, 300+ damage output per round, all necessary resistances, plenty sources of healing/escape).

For the most part these monsters flicker (i.e. change colour each turn). These include: great wyrms and various undead (nightwings/nightcrawler/black reavers + drujs). Titans and Jabberwocks also fall into this category. This would also apply to any deep unique you come across.

As a new player, you will encounter lots of monsters that you know nothing about. This is where your rod of probing comes in. It tells you everything you need to know about all monsters in your LoS, effectively turning a newbie into a veteran.
