I'm carrying it with me for now the RNexus coverage. The other effects are also very nice, but I figure that aggravation could be deadly in Ironman mode if some breeders get out of control or I get too many monsters chasing me in the middle of the level.

No sign of book 4 yet, but I did spot mage book 5 at 950. *Sigh* Maintaining AC seems very difficult. I hit a pack of water hounds that shredded 10 AC points at 1000' before I could clear them.

I'm trying to weigh the pros and cons of quickly diving down to about 1500-1700' for stat gain and to minimize water/fire hound abuse. If I lose my only copy of book 3 for Orb, my game will be as good as over.

I did pull out of a similar jam betweek 550' and 750'. I ruined a mace with ?curse weapon and it took quite a while to get enough enchantment scrolls to break the curse. My mix of weapons now is much better.

The dump was taken at entry to 1050'. I usually drop most spare books, oil flasks and the lantern. I rely on Cammithrim for local light and use Call Light & the light rod to permalight the level as I map it out with Sense Surroundings. So I'm not normally slowed.

If you really want it at a reasonable depth in ironman, scum the town at the start until you can afford it. That's too painful IMO but I figured I should mention it.
