I am not sure if this qualifies as YASD. On the one hand, it does because it was towards the end of my dungeon run and I was a little slowed down when I took on Lagduf. I should have just recalled instead of trying to take him on.

On the other hand, I had a reasonable chance of taking him out. I dispatched most of his escorts and wss fully rested with several phase door scrols. My plan was to hit him with a lot of lighting bolts until my mana was down, then plink him with arrows. When phase door to a location where he couldn't reach me, I would rest up and repeat.

It worked for awhile. Then a string of bad luck hit. Either the phase door would keep me in his LOS or take me into the LOS of another monster giving him more time to heal causing the battle to last MUCH longer then it should have. Then I ran out of scrolls and SP, and the rest is history.
