Those snipers are tough! I've outshot one, and could whittle them all away but for the wound point damage. I've left 45' twice hoping the quest will go away. The help file says that I'll eventually get some wp regenerate ability, so maybe that will kick in soon.

The late early game and mid-game is where Steamband is at its toughest, and is arguably the hardest 'band at those levels (Troglodyte Beastlords! Black Mariahs! Run away!). The early chicken and regular trog killing is fine, and by the late-game you'll be a walking engine of destruction (just look out for Construct pits and those Dimensional Phase Etheric doodley bobs), but the part in between can be rough.

I once got the Marquis de la Tour at 42 and it was really a question of whether he would kill me or I would make myself fail the quest first. At that depth, I had zero hope of killing him. Steam just does that sometimes.
