P.S. You know you are bad with bows (but not slings nor crossbows)?

Actually, I had forgotten about the dwarf/bow thing, so thanks! I'm currently only sniping the occasional fleeing monster, but I'll keep an eye out for crossbows for the stronger dont-want-to-touch baddies.

I'm loving the Lance. I chose it over Careth Asriag and a Long Sword of Westernesse. It's really made 750' - 1250' way more fun than with Grar!

I've come across an oddity that i can't explain... When I save Grar! and then go to load him back up, he takes damage. My dump says 360/360, which is right... but when I load him up he will have 316/360. Is this normal... I didn't see anything about it in the help file, but I admit I only skimmed it.

Also came across a glitch. I checked my home inventory back when I only had 1 potion of restore strength, dexterity and constitution plus a potion of confusion. I did some shopping, came back and my home inventory tripled listing the four potions as a - d, but then repeated for e - h and for i - l. I decided to offer up the extra potions as a sacrifice to the RNG so I left them in the town square.

These two are known bugs, listed on the O homepage. The shop/home inventory doubling bug occurs e.g. when you press ESC while reloading the game. The HP disappearing after a reload are the Athletics bonus.

How often do you get criticals with that Lance?

Hey thx, that's helpful.

Criticals? I checked the last messages... against some random Cave Trolls it looks like I'm doing a hack or strike about one out of every 5 swings, not counting any encounters where I do Armsman hits. That could be skewed data since the sample is small and only one type of target, but I just got through clearing a pit of them. I do a fair share of missing and hitting. I wish I could get free action elsewhere so I could wear the ring of skill I have at home. While I'm playing I hammer the spacebar every nanosecond so I don't really know if I'm getting criticals often or not. I do see the armsman thing pop up pretty often since it's written kind of big, but that's automatic no matter what weapon. I'll keep an eye out when I fight some tougher monsters and let you know.

One hack, one strike, 3 hits and one miss against Bolg. No armsman.

Lugdush: Strike miss (armsman) slice hit miss hit miss hit.

Anyway, I got me a new orc carver now! It does slightly less damage on average but I think less monsters are resistant to poison plus a dwarf is just supposed to use a great war axe, right? Lugdush dropped boots of free action so bonus points for me. I'll leave Grar!! here till tomorrow for another exciting day at work.

1d12 criticals are really impresive (especially compared to 1d4 criticals). I just envy you, playing an assassin that can only dream about such weapons. ;)

Nooo! I didn't think about the impressive critiicals!!!! I have sold stuff to get my lance back!

I hope I remember it right --- that the additional critical dice in O are multiples of 1d12 and 1d4 in such cases. Anyway, there are 237 monsters in O resistant to poison and 83 resistant to electricity. :)

1900' was very fun. Took out six uniques: the three Stone trolls, Queen ant, Draebor and Erosomething lord of Gaverosomething. Also of note I took down my first Ancient dragon, a green. There was a small octagon like vault and a huge mining colony like area packed with mostly orcs, trolls and some random slightly strong baddies. I mined almost all the treasure deposits for a ton of cash. I've got a cool 100,000 burning a hole in my wallet.
This has been the first level that hasn't been frustrating in a long time.

Death due to being stubborn!

First stubbornness was using *id* to find out what my spear did instead of what Thalketoth was doing. I just *had* to know more about that spear! I have never seen it before.

Second stubbornness was I knew there was a hole somewhere in my resistances, but I couldn't pass up the fifth attack a round from wearing Thalketoth even though I knew I should be using the armor of Greater Resistance with four attacks a round.

What's crazy is that if I could go back I would still do the same thing and hope Kavlax would breathe something else.

Grar!!! is in the works, so if he becomes notable I will post but it will be about a week's worth of playing before he gets to Grar!! status.
