This android warrior has been doing okay so far. Could use some more potions of self knowledge, though, so I can use the !oNewLife for better ratings; Started out with 105/100 life rating which is nice, but with a STR/DEX/CON cap of 18/90, 18/70, and 18/80 which sucks for a warrior. After 3 !oNL rating is now 93/100 with 18/110, 18/130, and 18/70, still not really satisfactory. Ah well we'll see how it goes.

Should I stick with 106/100 adn 18/110 STR 18/120 DEX and 18/80 CON? Except for CON its nice and maybe I shouldnt risk giving it up for a small chance of something even better.

Anyway, been roaming at bottom of anti magic cave instead of diving deeper in Angband like I wanted to, because im practically out of !oHealing and !oResistance. Magic device skill is also painfully low, failing a staff of speed 20 times or more in a row isnt really helpful either.

Just killed Brand for random quest, and got his Xbow. Finally some decent speed (+24). I'm considering swapping out that +5 speed ring for either ring of slaying, CON, or nether (currently get rNether from swap ring).

Running around with amulet of Magic Mastery in my backpack for when I need to use that staff of speed. Swap in MM, haste, swap back Boromir again for the damage bonus. Not the most elegant way but gets the job done and I don't need to miss that +8 toDam.

Still constantly low on !oHealing and !oResistance, I guess I need to start saving some of them at home if I ever want to do the Old Castle :).

Able to update here again (site won't let you when android gets lower construction level than a previous post).

After Brand I went scumming the AMC again for potions. When I had enough I dove to the next quest level which gave me the Norsa to do, and that on a level with a vault in it and more uniques. Stupid thing was, I hadnt replenished my stock of Identify/perception. Killed Saruman first, then took down the Norsa in a fight that left me practically out of potions again. Among the trash he dropped was Celegorm, Worpal Blade, Twilight, and.. The Glaive of Pain.

Had a quick go at the vault but with limited supplies I had to be satisfied with killing Eol and taking off with 2 unknown objects (turned out to be "oReflect and -ofDragonbreath).

I was curious what the Old Castle would reward me with now, so I went potion scumming again (I think the high kill count is for a large part due to bashing trough loads of trolls, Headless, etc, the small fry generated in groups unfortunate enough to be carrying stuff :P), found a few more useful items and had a go at the castle which was easy as I had just found (and switched to) Aule and had large damage output (like the current setup with only change gloves of Agility+2). Actually it was so easy I didnt even have to use a single healing potion!

Well, I found Fingolfin among the drops (more damage! :D) and a randart armour, the rest was the usual kind of junk. And what did I get for quest reward? A scroll of Acquirement... Bah. Actually I had a little bit hope for a scoll of artifact creating because I screwed up the corpse hunting early on by getting teleported off a level by a nexus hound after killing Grendel but before getting to the body :(.

On 6.7.2005 14:38 Elliott946@aol.com wrote:
Sadly, that's the way it goes. Its always a scroll of acquirement. My current Chaos Warrior already has Zarcuthra and the Soulsword, so I'm in no particular hurry to do the Old Castle or Graveyard.

Just steadily going on (dlev 79 now). Really need to clean out my home. And need to do another scumming round for resistance and healing again. Some more CON would be nice, too. Or some of the Lazy gear. Aren't they guarded by some of the bigger uniques?

Of the Amberites, only Bleys and Oberon remain. None of the other hit me really hard with their curses :). The nasty uniques still remain so far. Well let's just see how he fares :).

The three hyper-nasties are the gurdians of lazy artifacts. The easiest of three is Morgoth I think, but he will never be found out of depth...

I think of the three super-nasties as being the Serpent, the Unicorn, and Morgoth. Is the Serpent not one? If so, who is #3? I think of the next tier as being the Ring, The Destroyer, Nodens, Shuma-Gorath, and Cthulu, but I'd have a hard time ranking them.

On 12.7.2005 03:12 blackreaver368@yahoo.com wrote:
Well, you did name the third, but I'm surprised you only rank it in the second tier. I've only fought it a few times and only defeated it twice. Morgoth is about half as powerful, in my opinion ;-) I'll give you a hint: Its worth about 10 million xp!!

On 12.7.2005 10:12 Mars wrote:
Hm, was already expecting that. Guess they are just the only ones 'worthy' enough to carry around stuff like that. On the other had, what point is there for the lazy gear AFTER you have slain the big three? lol

On 12.7.2005 16:51 Elliott946@aol.com wrote:
Oh, that's #3, is it? I guess I don't rank it as high as the others because I've never actually fought it. While I tend to charge my characters down into the dungeons at a suicidal pace, I'm pretty cautious about what they fight once they get down there.

Of the monsters I named in the earlier post, Cthulu and the Serpent are the only ones I've actually killed. *Destruction*ed the others away lots of times, but actually killing them didn't seem to be worth the effort.

I'm a bit disappointed to hear that those three have the Lazy artifacts. I agree with Mars on this one. Sure, the artifacts are extremely powerful, but getting all three of them is probably more difficult than killing the Serpent.

Looking at the dump, I assume you took your gear off for some reason before completing the Haunted House quest. Looks kinda funny.

Some progress.. Down to about 50 uniques left. The last random quest level was guarded by Azatoth, of course on a level that was loaded with uniques: Rhan Tegoth, Ansalom, Wahha-man, Glaaki, Bleys, and Uriel. Took care of them all too except for Uriel (*destructed*) as I was running low on resources and he started summoning. I think I'll avoid the nastier uniques (at least for now).

I really hate it to have to go potionscumming all the time with my warrior. When I have stocked up again, I have an appointment with Oberon. I think Morgoth is the easiest 'guardian' monster so he's next on the list. Can you *destruct* the Serpent so you can fight Morgoth one on one? Or will it just be teleported around?

Oh and it's probably time to try some equipment juggling too. Hopefully I can find a combo with some higher warrior stats/sustains, maybe free up that ring slot I'm using for rConf, or change shields (in current setup only necessary for rLight).

If you use *destruction" on the Serpent he will reappear somewhere on the floor (and that can be just next to you!) immediately, fully healed up, though it's still useful sometimes.

Morgoth does not resist teleport, unlike the Serpent and other guardians, so maybe you can make use of it.

[dlev 88] Having found Chainsword while potionhunting, I intended to dive quickly to level 99 but couldnt resist checking out the level that started with a swarm of flying polyps. (see screenshot). Since I didn't want to take them on (no drops anyway) I teleported and looked around for a bit, when I was surprised by a mana storm. The green P that I thought was a Marid turned out to be Loki (always keep your guard up!!).
Bailed out with teleport again, *destructed* most polyps when Kaschei came at me. Fought him without getting into much trouble in the destruction zone as he only summoned some weaklings. Rarely finished, Fenris came looking for a beating which I was more than happy to give him.

Clearing up summons and checking drops I discovered Glamdring and Falis, AND a Longsword (4d5) {special} in my backpack. Could it be? Yeah it turned out to be Ringil!

I hadn't intended to fight Loki since I was low on speed potions (only 2 left), but with +35 base speed I decided he wouldn't be (too much of) a problem. So I trashed Godzilla on my way to Loki, created another suitable battle area with *destruction* and pummeled him into oblivion. He only summoned twice, two times Cyberdemons, 4 in total. Phase dooring helped me staying out of their rocket range and allowed me to kill Loki. Mopped up the Cyberdemons after that at the cost of a couple of healing potions so I could check the loot in peace, but nothing very useful.

(not dumped) Dove to Oberon quickly, taking out Zoth Ommog (middle depth unique, pushover :P), Carcharoth, Gotmog, and Nyarlotep on the way down. *Destructed* a bunch of uniques grouped together and just as Oberon entered my LoS the Destroyer came boring through the wall, it had to be teleported out a couple of times during the fight.

The fight itself was harder than expected, even though Oberon didn't summon much (most dangerous were a Lord and Wyrm of Chaos). Used 1 Mass banish, 2 *Healing* and 9 Healing. Ironically, Oberon got a successful "Hand of Doom" in despite of the antimagic, the first time ever in Heng that one of my characters got struck by that IIRC. In all, I think I lucked out a bit and might have made 1 or 2 mistakes that could've meant the demise of Beep II. Next: potionscumming (again..) and Morgy hunting for the first lazy artifact!

Well, I had my first skirmishes with the Serpent, trying to get him to summon Morgoth. Without much luck, he did summon other nasty uniques. After a few tries I decided to retreat a few levels and hunt a few more uniques. Found Nenya, too, and the cold immunity is very useful to protect my precious potions.

Killed Sauron (who didn't drop the One), the Tarrasque, and Raphael and Azriel. Most nastier uniques are still at large (35 remaining, 24 deeper than level 70). If I can get some more resources I might go after the Unicorn first. With a pure warrior things are pretty hard!

...How come you're leaving the Hammer of Aule, which is more powerful than Ringil?

Aule may be more powerful, but it's the +10 to speed on Ringil I like very much. Especially if I'm going after the Unicorn, a base speed of +40 instead of +30 may lessen the chance of double moves if it happens to be dispel-magic happy.

Returned to playing this one after a berserker break. Mopping up more uniques, Hastur, Layzark, Quaker, Cerberus, Hela, and Yog Sothoth all died since my last dump here. This chardump is just after destroying the Destroyer. Actually I wanted to wait for the Stick before taking him out but he popped up so often it became annoying. It did cost me dearly, about 9 !oHealing and 6 !o*Healing*. I'm worrying about the big ones like Nodens, Shuma Gorath and Bahamut.
