Well well mages are a lot harder to play than i thought. This char is pratically whole game been without regeneration and getting those corpses to eat for balrog is been quite annoying.

Spells do quite low damage and u need more than one go at an unique due to lack of spellpoints. Summoners are extremely annoying.

Found tome from blackmarket ~35-38l and the 3rd book a lot later(lucky i saved all good wepaons i found in house and got more charisma items and was just BARELY able to purchase it). Getting the exp for balrog is quite annoying due to low power of spells.

Now going for manastorm staff in Volcano and then go for 4th sorcery book quest.

Just wait until you get Breathe Chaos..then you won't complain so much about spells not doing enough damage.

Also, if getting corpses for satiation annoys you, just stock up on scrolls of satisfy hunger.

Best,

Victor

Hehe obviously you arent a Hengbander...

There is no scroll of satisfy hunger in Heng.

breathe Chaos has the unfortunate thing of polymorphing the target and they're always full HP's after it. Unfortunately its quite unreliable so far for me. managed to get 2 cyberdemons summoned on me while i was fighting shooting star :). Fortunately cyberdemons can be confused.

Um, excuse me, but I happen to have multiple winners posted here, and the current #3 spot on the Hengband ladder. So I actually know Hengband quite well, thank you.

Here's even a link showing that it at least existed in Hengband 1.6.0, and I doubt that 1.6.1 has changed that drastically.

http://angband.oook.cz/d/hengband-1.6.0/lib/edit/k_info.txt

Just search for "satisfy hunger" or N:210.

As for my characters, just take a look at Lazy Daisy and Nimble Izanagi. You might also want to look at MY Balrog Rogue, Nimble Pimple. He seems to have a scroll of satisfy hunger in his inventory, and unless I'm really missing something, 1.5.4 is also not that different from 1.6.1.

Dont get smart with me dude.

This from version.txt

Dec. 9th, 2002 hengband 1.4.0 (Stable branch) released.

- Removed scrolls of satisfy hunger and that class power of Berserkers.
Androids can quaff flasks of oil.
Barlogs can sacrifice corpses with symbol 't','p', or 'h' using the Eat command.
Golems, Zombies, Skeletons, and Spectors can Eat charges of wands and staves.
Ents can get nutritions from water in any potions.

Maybe you have re-added it back yourself or use some unofficial version or whatever.

Ofcourse halftext would show satisfy hunger code parts because it was only later removed (Most likely only the appearance of scrolls was removed) and did appear on original code (from zang i assume). Not removing all code to it would allow reintroducing it on some later date if it was deemed nesseccary.

Find any other dump where someone has it :)? Cheat cheat *lol*.

Well Now i finished the Node quest and as i before said Chaos breath changed the Hell wyrms to .... thats right arch lich and elven shade. And ofcourse they proceeded to summon 20-30 more(arch / demiliches) and the room size was small so i was barelyable to avoid detection range it was a real bitch getting rid of them. All rods busted due to eating them but mana storm staff eventually saved my ass. (Well atleast didnt make me leave the quest).

Well atleast i got Palantir from the very last archlich i think and now i'm able to switch to cloak of the Bat upping my speed to +20.

Could get shard res which is quite more nessessary but then i'd lose +2 con and sound so going to stay this still for bigger breath damage.

Antiguard,

You were right about the Scrolls of Satisfy Hunger in that they were removed from 1.6.0, but not 1.5.4. My apologies for this! I just never really paid attention to that small detail, since food really isn't a big issue, but perhaps if I update my balrog rogue to 1.6.0, I'll feel your pain.

I do take issue with the "Obviously [I'm not] a Hengbander" though, but forget that. We're all adults (I believe), and the last thing I want to do is get on anybody's crap list.

Nice to see your kit coming along nicely, and in regards to breathe chaos, I read in another post that it made killing UNIQUES much easier. I would completely agree that on normal monsters, the polymorph basically cancels its utility as a damage spell. I've never liked chaos as a weapon, either.

In regards to shard and sound resistance, you are right that they are practically critical, as I've observed myself in my posts...seems like if you found Numenor, that would solve both your problems. True, you'd sacrifice +2 Int and resist blind, but in certain instances, the payoff may be worth the risk. Perhaps finding a nice set of dragon gloves would also serve to nicely patch your resistance holes, too.

Here's hoping you go the distance!

Best,

Victor

heeh sure no biggie its just so obvious difference to other bands that it would be natural to assume you dont play heng.

Trouble with sacrificing int is that failure percentages are somewhat high ~20%(for manastorm and chaos breath). Failure effects can be somewhat nasty.. ( Summon cyberdemons/disenchantment) so INT is kinda critical.

So i'll rather sacrifice speed or con than int. If i find better weapon / torso slot that'd be nice. Gloves have to be free action or +dex so limits the availability of gloves. Also the firearm slot is rather useless at the moment just +2 stealth. Gandalfs staff would be rather nice hope to meet the fellow soon.

Now i'm puzzled how safe it is to use the staff of the magi... since i have fireimmunity can anything destroy it? and is it safe to recharge it with either sorcery or chaos recharge spell (chaos has less power). Naturally i'd only recharge an empty staff... trouble with using the shop is it costs 10k/charge and naturally is only available in town.
