I got a little careless with my new paladin and barged into a ghoul, which immediately paralyzed me. I sighed and began to clear the -more- prompts, watching the ghoul and an orc shaman beat Ruggiero to death.

Then...the paralysis wore off! And my character had ZERO hit points left! And so I sat and gazed solemnly at the screen, marveling at my luck, but also weighing my options. Do I phase door away and risk dying of poison (I was poisoned too)? Or do I quaff a CCW potion and risk getting paralyzed again? I'd had a miraculous reprieve, but I could blow the whole thing if I made the wrong decision.

I quaffed the potion. The ghoul clawed me. I made my saving throw. I phase doored away and glugged another potion. Then I lavishly wet myself and wept with relief.
