Ah, this is more my style. Being able to use weapons as they generate, continuously upgrading throughout the game is very sweet.

Actually, I normally hate characters with no detection to start, so I generally don't play warriors. But I was hoping that my munchkin quests would help out ... They most certainly did not. The only useful object from my 20 completed quests was Eowyn, which is always dear to my heart. But everything else was complete wastage ... Very disappointing. And all I wanted was Thranduil (Sam and Indra have been notable teasers but weren't quest rewards).

Most of the game has been spent at the shallow depths of The Anti-magic caves where it finally dawns on me that perhaps the reason Judge Mortis is so deadly here is that all his other spells are not allowed. He has 12 spells, 2 of which are breaths, but I bet he breathes every time here. He went on a nether fiesta again, but died quickly to Eowyn.

After Ulmo (chest) and Indra (random drop) spawned, I decided I'd move to the lair to speed things along. Still only 2 -Detection, but I had Tailbiter to spot suitable dragons (Bile and Storm, of course). But what I really spotted was a GCV! The first square had Genji, which is a good thing since I've biffed dual wielding so much that you almost need these gloves to be effective. And clearing the vault was going awesome! The Palantir for telepathy!! Amber!! Nain. Boots of Speed +8 (Junk :D Sacred Knights!! And a bunch of other stuff (Numenor I think). I got about 40% thru the vault until that stupid earthquake bird ended the party. This allowed Kenshirou to start commanding me to return, and things rapidly spiralled out of control. And when Hades showed up, I nearly insta-died, but managed to teleport out with just 100hp left. I recalled immediately.

Cruising! Old Castle at the 5:55 mark, but I already had found the Glaive of Pain. Still, Slayer would have been nice. And I just spent the last 30 minutes tracking down a special object on a special level ... complete with 2 back to back vaults and about 50+ objects I had to leave behind for lack of *id*. I "acquired" Colluin, though, so that frees up 3 inventory slots. Still, I need to abandon shooting since my pack is simply too small. Or start carrying a huge stack of *id* scrolls, but while trying to buy some, I discovered I'm broke. All that fun stomping nasty spellbooks for 3k xp a piece ... I guess some of those should be sold for gold (I've since begun selling my artifacts for gold).

Also, the uber level had my first RoS at +8, which is very nice.

It grieves me to no end to have to don the crap-mail of Arvedui, but I really just can't get shards resist anywhere else (Well, Hithlomir has it too, so maybe that is better?). I don't like this armor since it completely nerfs my AC, putting me in major melee beat down range (Hithlomir also nerfs AC, but compensates with stealth). Kenshirou chuckled when he saw me coming, and flexed his massive muscles in anticipation. But my magic skills are surprisingly good, and a staff of healing, while by no means automatic, is probably about 80 to 90%, so does see use in a pinch even when stunned.

Brand dropped both his crossbow and his sword. This is not possible, of course, unless one of them was just a random drop with his normal loot. Still, I'll take both, and the speed-bow (still!) makes me reconsider shooting. In fact, Bleys got shot to death, except for one round where he pulled me next to him, which was a stupid thing to do. I'm way more deadly in melee!

Well 161 aint that bad for a dual wielder at this point. You can always go up if u abandon that damage ring->res ring and chest or cloak replaced. Warrior is "easy" at least. Can wield any weaps or shield as they please so much easier to cover those pesky resistances than many other classes.

Ps are the bonus/level shots working correctly for classes? 1.6 seems kinda low for warrior. same for my archer he gets with "crappy"
Robin Hood Sbow like 4.5 shots and brand only 2.6 or something close to that if i recall. Damage difference is pretty damn huge for Robin hood. Well i suppose i could update my profile and give correct numbers.

That seems right ... Warriors only get +1 extra shot. So with the Crossbow's reduced shooting speed, 1.6 is about correct.

A brief foray into the world of aggravation thanks to Anarion spawning with shards resistance. But this won't last, I think. Aggravation totally sucks and I've already had 3 staves of healing destroyed thanks to awake monsters. That's a *huge* chunk (37%) of my supply, and once I lose those staves it is grind time. Even with my firepower, I'm using 8 or so healings per trip down and potions won't cover 10% of those requirements. Figure on 1000+ healings required for the win, so without renewable sources, it just can't be done (You might find 50 or so all game). But I needed Dark and Nether after losing Eowyn ...

I really should be dead now ...

My L74 quest was for the Emperor who spawned in a somewhat favorable position, sitting in the corner of a large rooom. So, I could tunnel then sprint to get next to it. Of course, it proceeded to do what it does best: Summon. First high undead. Then more undead. Then more undead. Then high dragons. I'm down to 500hp and surrounded by Reavers, Nightwalkers, a GWoB, a GWoC and ... and this is key ... Dio Brando. Oh yeah, the Witch King, The King in Yellow and a Nazgul are also out to play. Do I run? No. Do I hide? No. I heal!

But then the Q got its winning move: Summon Hounds. Over 70 additional monsters join the fray, including packs of nether and inertia hounds, and ... and *this* is key ... blink dogs. The result, I got blinked away from my suicidal death blow on the Q and then, realized that I was really, and I mean *really* pushing my luck. So I teleported away.

Nearly 1,000,000xp later I mopped up, sprinted in to melee range (somehow the Emperor did not regenerate?). At this point, there were no remaining walls nearby thanks to all the reavers (lesser x4, black x3), so it was iffy again. I got surrounded before I could get next to my nemesis, but managed to pick out the one surrounding foe I could instakill (Nightwing). Then, I managed the kill. +38 speed helped a bit. As did my 20d4 undead slayer ;)

And for some reason, my need to heal, while still significant, has gone down quite a bit. I only used 4 healing during this entire fracas. Bizarre ...

An incredibly loooong battle vs Demeter. Without a vampiric weapon, she is simply, flat out unkillable ... Unless you can consistently do more than 3k damage per round. So I hunkered down killing Ents until a vampiric weapon spawned. At first, the Ents were friendly but after killing 40 or so, I became evil. No matter, there were still another 70 or so Ent summons to pick off.

It took a long time to finally get a Death weapon, but one finally showed. Even with this asset, I wasn't sure I could manage her. Demeter's max hp fluctuated between 3 stars and 8 stars, and we fought for about 15 minutes. I probably dished out close to 1,000,000 damage on her (About 2k rounds of melee) before I finally lucked out and scored the killing blow.

Final Ent total of 151, but I think there are still quite a few lurking about.

I made it to the bottom with a pretty good quest run. Hera and Nodens both got a pass, though I was tempted to fight Nodens. In fact, I did melee him for a turn but then thought better of it. I can't survive a double mana storm and he's pretty likely to do just that. Hera, of course, isn't even attemptable. I've only managed 21 !*Healing* all game and I just can't afford to waste those.

Will the Jewel show up? I'm tempted to use Demeter if not, simply for another source of Healing activation. Without enlightenment, resources will be scarce.

On 21.7.2012 17:58 Antiguard@gawab.com wrote:
Couldnt you just teleport the ents away if demeter blinked behind them? Why kill if they were friendly i mean. At least they spanked my Mauler pretty hard so could only kill a few after needing heals and it had better AC than you.

Time res on demeter torch is pretty epic. Only leaves the problem of how to get telepathy then.

Did someone breathe disenchantment on Bladeturner? I thought is was an insane Power dsm, not a Law dsm. :) Altho... nice stats

But you have a pretty nice character going here, I would have died over a dozen of times, last one would have been Nodens with a double manastorm. I would've taken him on despite the manastorms. ;)

On 21.7.2012 18:34 chris wrote:
Whoa, that was a close final battle. Some recent experiences have taught me that 650hp is a risky time to heal, but the Serpent pretty much keeps you there every single round. I found that I needed to heal every other turn, and most of those were *Healing* to make sure I got back to full health. Often, I would heal 3 or 4 rounds in a row when the Serpent went on a berserko rampage. I took numerous double moves and even a triple, but survived them all. In the end, 20 to 25 !Healing and 15 !*Healing* were needed, as well as a couple of !Life, though having my key stats sustained made those unnecessary. Still, I had plenty to spare but you don't want to cut things too close for the end, since it takes all freakin' game to get enough resources for the J. Having to abort and rebuild resources would be demoralizing, but better than dying I guess ...

@Antiguard: Demeter heals 3000hp pretty near every turn if even slightly wounded. So if you leave the friendly ents about, she will heal whenever she gains line of sight of one of them. And ents had filled the entire level so I had to beat them down before the final battle.

Time resistance is nice, but not essential. I think Anti-magic is actually a bit more important for me as it allows me to resist the Hand of Doom.

@Arjen: Are you mocking my Bladeturner :) While it doesn't have all the resists, it has +4 to fighting stats and telepathy, things sorely missing on the original. As far as DQII artifacts, that one is simply amazing! Heck, I would have been ecstatic if my Law DSM simply picked up +4 con, but perhaps I am just too easy to please?

On 22.7.2012 00:06 Antiguard@gawab.com wrote:
So she doesnt heal if there are no ents? Huh u think players are gonna find that out somehow...? I just used cursed wounds and grinded hear top hp down. Besides if i had hit 1 ent the area attack of mauler woulda agroed them all. That was one point i was thinking of mentioning that should splattering always hit friendly monsters?

On 22.7.2012 00:35 chris wrote:
Oh, no, she'll heal whenever a monster is allowed to spell. Basically, whenever she has line of sight on you, or some hostile monster. But that's the bug ... Demeter summons Ents and the game makes them friendly to the player if the player is good. And thus, hostile to Demeter ... I'll fix this bug one of these days when I am feeling especially patient.

Its like fighting Combat Echizen. You sequester yourself in the walls and let him come to you. He blinks, and you stay put. But if there are monsters about, he spams healing and invulnerability when he is out of your line of sight. This makes him hard to kill, and for Demeter, it is even worse.
