Inspired by Satyr, I've been trying to make a sneaker/singer work. After many (many, many, many) failures and a detour into smiths (also with many, many, many failures), I finally have a guy who's ticking along nicely. Things were sketchy, he was out of light and using Song of the Trees for a bit, but I got Unwavering Voice, and stumbled on an Amulet of Grace (+1) and a Lantern of True Sight.

Good times. Letting it stew for a while so I don't blow it stupidly.

Cute story: The Spear of the Vanyar was sitting in a corridor around 800', right behind a dragon, and there was no way around. Knowing that it might kill my character, I decided I'd try a Song of Slumber and Exchange Places. The result is as you see...Fortune favors the bold (sometimes, except when it doesn't). The dragon noticed me but then became unwary. Whew!

There have been a number of tight squeezes with this character even deep in the fortress, such as standing right next to a prowling Rauko and wondering which direction it is going to walk (knowing that if it walks my way, I'm busted and it's probably Game Over). The tense situations don't get any less tense than running from orc patrols early on.

Just burgled Scatha's nest, too. Nice vampiric sword and stuff, but all I took was the Staff of Slumber.

And so Galadhwe ends. The Ururauko is turning out to be my nemesis, as my last character also died to one. This one spotted him by walking onto his square, and that was that.

I tried using my Staff of Slumber while chugging Miruvor and finally burned the last of my experience on pumping up my Song and learning Woven Themes to try and get away, but to no avail.

Hope you had fun during that trip! Bad luck with the rauko, your song was almost up to endgame level. BTW, as you allready got dodging you could have invested into sprinting, that works quite well with vanish to get you out of LOS if someting noticed you.

Thanks for the comment and tips! Yes, this was by far my favorite run. I liked it so much, in fact, that I started a new character very similar to Galadhwe. I have some ideas about tweaks I can make, etc., and I feel like I learned a lot about how to play him early on by playing him down deep.

I got Dodging early on to get me out of a pinch while I ran for the stairs. Sprinting was a thought at the time, but I never ended up needing it until the end...I think I will definitely get it next time though.

Actually, the floor before Galadhwe's demise I considered trying to steal some Boots of Speed out from under a Great Sapphire Serpent or something like that, but I ended up deciding not to push my luck. I feel like I pushed hard enough stealing the Spear of the Vanyar out from under a young dragon (it was an awesome toy, by the way...And fitting, for one of Finarfin's folk).

By the way, I really like your stealing-from-dragon-hoards story!
