Nether ball is 193 for 20. Nexus ball is 214, but fails at a whopping 40%, though polymorph demon gives +3 Int, so -9% fail rates :)

Yes, I had the 550hp sound ball in mind. Mana Storms only damage, while sound balls incapacitate your foes! But you're right, Eat Magic would be nice ... I'm not saying bards are better than High Mages :)

Now, to just level up. At the moment, I need to content myself with 1k of nether damage. Even evil monsters take 500, so its worth using on anything not resistant (or immune) to nether. Next level gives Blood Curse and with +60% spell power, that should do the job nicely.

As a result, High Mages are capped at 3 for intrinsic spell power. Also, amulets, rings and arcane weapons are biffed, making it harder to get higher values (You'll be lucky to get 3 spell power on a single item), and the two uber arts (Beruthiel and Kaschei) are now much more rare.

Originally, I added spell power to make it easier for spellcasters to survive in the mid levels, not to make the end game easier (They were already OP for the end). I think the mid game will still be OK, even for a mage.

What was wrong with Fleet of Foot before? I very often pick it, but didn't notice anything.

I have to say that I feel we should be going the other direction for Spell Power... make them distributed with pval between 1 and 6, but with smaller effects if they're to strong (maybe 5.5% per pval?)
