I've really got to try and be careful, whereas before I had a wimpy Dark-Elf Assassin, I've now got a fast, wimpy Dark-Elf Assassin - who charges into the thick of things just because he's got a bit of speed behind him. I've really got to try and understand that with his hitpoints I it won't take much to instakill him...

His insane luck has just continued too... I was out of identify (exhausted all three of my towns) so was lugging around everything I'd found travelling from Ephel Brandir to Gondolin waiting for psuedo-id. I came across a pair of boots on the path on a 'strangely lucky' level. I almost didn't bother picking them up - glad I did, turned out to be Dal-i-thalion :-)

Nick - are level feelings something planned for revision? It seems a bit strange that a fairly high-powered artifact on the floor only triggers a 'strangely lucky' feeling.

PS Completely off-topic, having thought about it, I wouldn't fret too much about 0.2.3 characters not translating across to 0.3.1 properly. It's unlikely to be an issue for most players and there's always the option of starting a new character and/or finishing the old one off in the original version...

I've kind of decided not to hurry on 0.3.2, too. There are two basic options - release after doing the current UI changes (so fairly soon), or later after gameplay changes as well. We'll see.

That's an interesting point, Si - is it out-of-depth items, rare items or a combination of both that set off level feelings? I'd expect Ringil to set off a 'superb' feeling even if longswords are in depth at current DL...

I always use autoscum whichever variant I am playing. I like to keep the levels interesting.

I've also got a nice spear (Nimloth) and a nice cloak (Holcolleth) too now. I've got three blows too, thanks to some Gloves of Power. Progress is much swifter since finding that ring...

Had been using Gurthang (nice weapon especially without the aggro when wielded by a Dark Elf) until I found Aule. Haven't seen any decent randart weapons yet (hardly seen any randart weapons at all actually - hope that means there are some top notch rare ones waiting for me soon!).

Just knocked off Gothmog which is usually a good sign that my character is about ready for the final fight.

Also found a nasty bug in squelch. If you use '.' or '-' to interact with floor items, it includes squelched items! Therefore you can get the following (if you've squelched potions of Death):

"You see a potion of Augmentation"
q. (quaff first potion beneath you)
"You quaff the potion of Death. You die."

Thankfully my experience was with reading a scroll of something harmless, but the potential was there for something much nastier...

Back to the game in question, I haven't found Dor Lomin, but Ringil made an appearance meaning on my next visit to the surface I can swap my =Warfare for Tulkas and improve my CON. As for now I am just mopping up some of the more dangerous uniques before taking on Morgoth. Cantoras and Tselakus are both un-undead.

Now that I can wear all my resistance and speed gear instead of +CON (due to Morgoth's crown), I am down at Ang127 killing GWoPs - they're not nearly so scary now. However I shudder to think of a 'hardcore' version...
