Stats distributed mostly uniformly, but with care to get a second throw and +1 speed. With Very Bad fighting the Broad Sword will not find any use for a long time. Some throwing items will urgently be needed for survival.

Should Frodo wait for the farmer to pay for the food, explore the tunnels while wating or go on to Bree and pay a bigger sum after he returns rich from his adventure?

However, the place smelled of food and drink, so it was surely worth exploring.

Just as my Iron Shots have run out (still on DL3, the first under-hill level of the Farm), I've found a room with burning torches (good against tough monsters) and then one with lots of linked chain (spikes are necessary against mushrooms, because torches only fly short distances). I was also lucky to find Brown Mushrooms for the final fight (or final trap-setting). Here is Frodo with piles of torches and spikes on the stairs to DL4.

I'm only a bit scared of starting close to a monster, but the joy of having more spikes and torches than any hobbit in history is worth the risk. And they are free! ;)
