      Sangband 1.0.2 Beta 2

Ok, for those of you not compiling from SVN, here's a set of patches. Almost everything mentioned in this thread has been fixed. If I've missed something, please let me know (aside from shapechange talent browsing).

Is Vampire form supposed to grant Hold Life and "grant" susceptibility to Light? It isn't granting it for my Shapeshifter (nor was it before the patch, but I waited in case it was an implied part of the patch's shapeshift fixes). The character was imported from beta 1.

Similarly, this character, an Ent, still lacks susceptibility to fire.

All of my shapeshifts are still Permanent. Bug, side-effect of the import, or effect of high skill? (63 NL, 63 BD, 64 SS.)

The Perception talent Sense Area is listed among warrior talents in addition to being listed among normal talents... this was also true before the patch, was again just waiting to avoid a superfluous report.
So you ride yourselves over the fields and you make all your animal deals and your wise men don't know how it feels to be thick as a brick.

Some talents can show up multiple places. It's an easy change if it's preferred to be elsewhere/only one place, but I figured warriors might want to use 'p' preferentially for some common utility talents.

If your shapechanges say permanent, and they are, that's fine. If they give a duration, but don't expire, that's a problem. Off the record, you've got more than enough NL/BD for all your shapechanges (you don't have to keep it at parity), though they do help with the duration. Hmmm... it doesn't look like duration is being calculated correctly. But a recompile seems to do the trick... Ok, wait, this bug only shows up when I compile for speed (-O3), which I normally do only for released version. WTF?

Yes, vampires are supposed to get hold_life, but aren't. Fixed in SVN.

This is one of those rare cases where WAI is good enough for even ornery old me. I mainly wasn't sure it was WAI.

Yup, listed as and acting as permanent. Great!

Oh, that's just this anal thing I do with keeping "minor" skills in the range from power-10 to power-11.

Sense Charges works better than its description suggests - it determines device type if needed, not just charge count.

                Any word on this one?

Judging from the pounding I'm getting from fire, it looks like maybe the susceptibility exists but you forgot to add a charsheet marker, implemented one but it was buggy, or found it unnecessary. (Bad maintainer! Bad! *wags finger*)

This one doesn't show up on the character screen, just like the Vampire one. The character screen as currently implemented shows anti-flags. Anti-flags cancel out flags. Thus, if you're shapechanged into a mouse, you can't aggravate, or if you're shapechanged to an elder ent, you can't have free falling.

Vampires and Ents take +50% damage from their vulnerable elements. I guess I should figure a way to get these on the character screen.

Alternately, if you think another mechanic would work better, I'm all ears.

Ok, I think I could show elemental vulnerabilities as red '+' marks for clarity. Cancel flags show red 'X' marks.

Using a + would have the downside of being identical to non-anti-flags in ASCII dumps... but I don't want to push things any more than I already am. :-)

How about a '/''? It'd nicely oppose the '*' for immunities.

Ask, and it is done. Mixed resistance is shown in yellow, and vulnerability w/o compensation is displayed in red. Vulnerabilities are displayed with '-'. Done in SVN.

Has the rarity of stat potions been increased in any of the latest releases?
Or have the rarity of any other items been changed that could have had a knock-on effect of reducing the number of stat potions?

I'm finding myself getting near to the endgame with stats nowhere near maxed and in some cases less than 18 - though I've been lucky so far and have always found potions for the most important stats (but still vulnerable to nexus stat swaps.)

However, I don't know if this might just be because I am descending faster and doing fewer quests, so spending less time in the optimum levels for finding stat potions which seems to be around DLs 50-65

Early dungeon books are more common deep down, and a lot of weapons are less common (mostly in the far depths). I would guess that the drop rate of stat gain potions should be mostly unchanged. A couple of !Augmentation will probably smooth things out, and you should find them at those depths.

This version was intended to speed players up a little, so perhaps stat-gain isn't keeping up in the way it used to.
