    The manes is held in stasis.

    I'm playing a low level green-elf necromancer with no special equipment (that I know of), and the unlight specialty. I hit the manes, and received the message "The manes is held in stasis.", which effectively paralyzed him for a few turns allowing me to run away.

    Is this something new for necromancers?

      Is your weapon identified? There are some weapons which would do this...

        Well, no, not yet. I'm almost embarrassed to say that it's a broken sword (1d2) {good}. It doesn't do very much damage, I kinda figured it was of the simple +th/+dam variety. I was really just toting it around to sell eventually.

            It's 'of Chaos', +14,+8, 2 blows, 3 per blow. I can't really justify using it since my 'of Shocking' does 5 times the damage. Worse yet, I can't sell it either.

              As a necro, you probably don't want to melee much anyway. That would leave you with the choice of Chaos for the occasional good effect in desperate circumstances, or Shocking for the RElec.

                Does "of Chaos" provide chaos resistance? If so, does rChaos provide rConf in FAAngband?

                  No, but RConf stops you from getting confused by Chaos attacks if that's any consolation.

                    ... "of Chaos" doesn't seem to work properly on players weapons anyway. I think I mentioned that before, but only had tried on townspoeple which rather died than triggered any weapons effects (shouldn't those be triggered before the damage calculation?!) In the meanwhile, I had about 40 hits on non-townspeople and only noticed 1 "teleport other" (at least, the orc vanished without a trace and, sadly, without any message as well) ...
                    No, I don't have a clue 'bout C, and I'm not starting my own variant.

                      It seemed to make more sense to me to trigger after each blow. Also, some effects will fail against some monsters, and there is a 1 in 10 chance of an effect being attempted. And I wanted it to have a bit of scarcity value

                        I hadn't played with it, or any other chaos weapon, enough to form a solid informed opinion, but without a brand multiplier, a 1 in 10 chance of producing a chaotic effect seems pretty weak unless weapon of chaos are meant to be very early game weapons. A standard branded weapon would produce consistently higher damage output would seem better in almost any situation. IM(admittedly uninformed)O, of chaos, roughly equates to a wand of wonder with a 90% failure rate.

                          If it went off with every blow then it'd be ridiculous, though -- you'd be continually surrounded by earthquakes, and confused or polymorphed monsters (assuming FA chaotic weapons are anything like Z chaotic weapons). The weapons definitely need to not trigger every hit. Maybe 1 in 10 is too infrequent; I haven't played with them so I wouldn't know. But I'm pretty well certain that 1 in 5 would be too often.

                            They're meant to be situationally useful. They're unusually light (so more blows), and give RChaos - sometimes that will be what you need.

                              Is it a bug, or is it intended, that regeneration ability gives three times more then normal mana regen ?
                              /* Regeneration ability. A lesser effect on mana in Oangband. */
                              if (p_ptr->regenerate)
                              {
                              regen_amount = regen_amount * 2;
                              mana_regen_amount = 3 * regen_amount / 2;
                              }
                              so base regen value is dobled, and then multiplyed by 3/2.
                              maybe just coment is wrong.

                                Neat - I think that is technically a bug; certainly it's been there since Oangband 0.7.0. I haven't ever thought that mana regen is too fast, so I don't think I'll change anything.
