The problems others describe sound flash card related to me and I would not waste time trying to track them down. It is worth asking ppl what DS and flash card they are using. DSi flash cards are not very mature.

As for the attack nearest etc., these are straightforward macros mapped to buttons. I doubt they would cause any problems.
    DS Lite with an R4DS.

And I've easily put in >15 hours with the new 'install' and have found it flawless, fwiw.

Hey I'm using the latest version on the DS and whenever I'm using Wizard mode and I cheat death I end up back at town inside a wall :S I can get out with teleportation but it's a bummer. Great game though! To be honest, this one got me started on roguelikes. Well at least Hardcore ACII graphic roguelikes hehe

This is a known bug that I never remember to fix, and most people don't admit to knowing about

Most girls won't use wizard mode either...

Hehehe I didn't see that coming.
Oh well I guess I'll just carry around a Tele scroll.
Wow I just got finished reading all the screenshot stories and character dumps. I feel like I've talked with a celeb and didn't know it. You and Hallucegenic mushroom and Psi are truly masters. When I become a game developer I'm going to name some characters after you hehehe

Dang I better stop using wussy wizard mode. I kept seeing "death by curse" in your dumps Nick. Thats got to have been frusterating XD

Unfortunately, the game doesn't have a means of detecting "Death by hubris." Otherwise, I think most of my characters would be chalked up to that and not any specific beasties.

Although, I did have a nice string of deaths to Pango. I'm still a noob, so I don't feel complete shame in that.

My adventure ended abruptly - the maelstrom breathed cold, a lot of cold. Anyway, I have more questions.

What does it mean, that the monster is "dazed"? Stunned? Confused? Are there any penalties for spellcasting or combat?

Thrust away or Cacophony "dazes" monsters reliably. Does it mean that those spells are more effective then beguiling spells?

Runes are a nice idea. Rune of mana drains monster mana, Rune of speed slows monsters. Rune od protection protects @. But what do other runes do?

              Thanks a lot.

Stunned. There's a penalty to hit in melee, and a reduction in frequency of ranged attacks.

Yes. Cacophony is very powerful - maybe too powerful.

Magic Influence increases player saving throw, and decreases monster saving throw. The Elements increases played elemental spell power, decreases monster's; Power does the same for any spell. Instability makes an earthquake when a monster walks on it. Speed hastes the player while on it, slows monsters walking on it. Also, Mana doesn't just drain monster mana - it acts as a mana reserve that the player can add to, or cast from, while standing on it.

Thanks a lot for the explanation.

Does "dazed" status prevent from spellcasting? I lured Glaurung to a corridor with rune of mana and speed, and used thrust away to walk him over them again and again. He was dazed all the time, sometimes lost mana or was slowed on the runes. He did not cast a single spell. I expected summons but he died without really threatening me. Was I lucky or "dazing" is that strong or is Glaurung weaker than in V?

Cacophony is strong. To walk into a pit and cacophony all the guys to death at once was a very pleasing experience.

I will experiment with runes with my next character when he gets there. Sounds very interesting.

Not prevent, but makes it a lot less likely. Yes it is powerful. Mages are currently awesome.

My next mage survived to CL 45. I experimented with the new spells. I tried to tackle Sauron just for fun with 610 HPs and Wand of Striking, Rod of Glaurung's blood and Rod of Dragonfire just to see what happens. I was at speed 37 hasted.

I expected that I will have to destruct soon and come back later. To my surprise I killed him fairly easily. He was stunned all the time, lost all mana and slowly died.

It felt like cheating. Thrust away, runes and dimension door are so powerfull. I think that the setup would work even for M, I would just had to use door creation to block LOS instead of stepping behind the corner.

                      Very nice.

They certainly seem powerful - I have a CL20 mage that I must play further to see if they need nerfing at all.

Or maybe I need a vote.

                          Unusual dungeon creation.

I don't think that I've run into this before. A room, with no obvious access points, with no items or monsters inside. Bug or feature?

Here's something different, or maybe I've just been awake too long, but this isn't making sense to me. A Wicker Shiled of Elvenkind [0(2),+4(+9)]<+1 to stealth>. What's with the double values?

This is what happens when you wield a two-handed weapon, and your shield goes onto your back. You are getting AC of [0, +4] with that weapon, and it would go to [2, +9] if you used a one-handed weapon. You do still get all other properties (resists, etc).
