It's easy to say bow, sling, or crossbow as necessary. More to the point, the bow doesn't tingle. Your hands do.
4.0.4 bugs

I believe I have now fixed all the bugs in 4.0.4. The latest source is here, and there are builds for Windows and OS X.
In a few days I'll release 4.0.5 if there's nothing obviously wrong. I intend that to be the last release for version 4.0, and from there it'll be full steam ahead toward the glorious future of version 4.1.One for the Dark Lord on his dark throne

I am still playing 4.0.4 and after a read through could not see these bugs specifically addressed:
1) Creatures refresh poorly as @ moves. The heads/wings/hoods/horns of tall imaged creatures remain behind despite the spaces where their bodies/legs were having been cleared.
2) Highlight character square (yellow frame) appears to be located in (y,x) when @ is in (x,y) - frame moves up/down when @ moves right/left and vice versa.Comment

(1) I think should be fixed in 4.0.5 by the fix to the invisible tile bug. (2) rings a vague bell - I wouldn't be surprised if that was fixed too. If not, I'll file it as a bug for 4.1.0I am still playing 4.0.4 and after a read through could not see these bugs specifically addressed:

Waah! Fighting Morgoth (for my first win!) and had him down to two **, when:
angband: obj-pile.c:134: pile_excise: Assertion `pile_contains(*pile, obj)' failed
(crash)
Sigh. Sorry, this has probably been reported before. Version 4.0.4.
EDIT: Update -- trying to restart, I now get:
Cannot read monster 128
Savefile corrupted - couldn't load block monsters
and then it exits with a command-line error "broken savefile". This is on Linux, by the way (Mint).Last edited by Chud; April 18, 2016, 22:36.Comment

That's awful. If you post or send me a savefile, I can have a go at fixing it.Waah! Fighting Morgoth (for my first win!) and had him down to two **, when:

Thanks! Don't spend a huge amount of time if it's not obvious and easy; I can just start again with 4.0.5 --- it's not like I haven't been playing the game long enough anyway, and I'm finally getting over the things that mostly get me killed. (Having to know what's in that vault, "it's only a 2% failure rate, it'll be okay," "One more try, then I'll run away next turn," etc. :-) )Attached FilesComment

Fixed. It was a problem with mimics - it's always a problem with mimicsThanks! 4.0.4 Savefile Broken
Hello all,
I play Angband 4.0.4 off a Jumpdrive on my Windows 7 machine; every time I go to reload a saved game or start a new character using a savefile from a dead PC, I keep getting broken save file errors. Bad header, or something similar to that.
I usually turn on sound and change around some of the Term outputs to something more to my liking then the defaults and it's getting frustrating, as I just lost a nice PC that was well on his way with good equipment and progress. These changes to sound and Term outputs are the only things I alter, everything else is pure Vanilla startup.
I don't recall playing from a jumpdrive being an issue in the past, but perhaps something has changed with newer OS and/or Angband itself.
Suggestions?

1) The highlight box will have to be included in the 4.1.0 bug fixes - still an issue in 4.0.5
2) Nick? Two years older than me, and living in the same city, no less!Comment

Apparently filename for savefiles are not allowed to contain spaces. This restriction should be removed.Comment
