Ooh, excellent! I think that's swept up all of my main annoyances aside from the inscription troubles now. (And the weirdness with randart properties, but that just works as a kind of extra challenge mode.) I'm impressed with how fast you're getting all these fixed!

Related to #1846 Empty quiver should show: I also miss seeing the quiver count in inventory. It was nice to see how many total missiles I had before another inventory slot would be taken up by ammunition. Now I have to look at the quiver and add up all the missiles to make that determination.

There have also been some fixes which I am hoping will completely stop crashes to do with "bad objects". In fact, I am hoping there are now no outstanding crash bugs, so let me know if I'm wrong.

40 bugs left on the tracker now, but there are some recent ones I haven't included yet.

I didn't see it in the bugs list, maybe I missed it, but Thraalbeast noted that when posting his Beta 4.0 character to the ladder, the character name was appended with the character age.

Maybe think about abolishing this feature.
I actually use them regularly. I have them on things like teleport level, word of recall, and other things that would really irritate me if I used because of a fat finger.

Edit: Didn't realize how far behind in the thread I was, and that this was said several times already ...

Come to think of it though I'm a bit peckish now....

Just disarmed a dart trap and found a staircase hidden underneath it. That was a surprise...

Before activating the ring I was on
    Turns Used: 1,573,895
    Standard: 306,049
    Resting: 187,929

I rested a number of times for the maximum amount you can put in at any one time (9,999 turns) and I did get the message that the ring had recharged.

    Turn count:
    Turns Used: 1,771,933
    Standard 372,049
    Resting: 253,274

I don’t actually get the difference between Turns Used and Standard Turns but all up I needed to rest 65,345 before the ring recharged so I don’t think it’s a display bug. It is however well inside what the description on the item tells me the recharge time is.

Angband then crashed when I went to double check the recharge turn count on the ring (maybe because it can’t handle me resting so long).
Man, you must have had a lot of food!

The difference in my Standard Turns now though is 198,038 which is a bit closer to the advertised recharge time.

No one need worry, final 4.0 will still have inscriptions and keymaps working as for 3.5.1.

The current round of 4.0beta is for testing - it is expected to be unstable and sub-optimal. I am very grateful to all the people testing it, but I certainly don't want anyone to feel obliged to.

Argh! Just crashed while battling a lowly 3 headed Hydra. Several blows and then boom! Crash! Don't know why, maybe I was pressing keys too rapidly. Just sucks I can't give any detail to help locate the bug.

That sounds like an acceptable workaround for keymaps. What about randarts ? Can I expect my Arkenstone to get 0 light radius ?

Spellbook keymaps still work but instead of with an inscribed number they only work with the inventory position letter. So @m1b for detect mosters won't work (instead it brings up the book but won't select the spell) whereas @mab does. I couldn't play without keymaps otherwise I'd get bored very quickly or develop RSI.

I am still playing with keymaps for my spells but just my most frequently used ones which change as the game progresses. I keep an updated visual reminder so I know which key I have casting whatever spell.

    Another bug:
Recharge times don't appear fixed for randarts. I have a ring that activates for Remove Curse and recharges in 492000 to 240480000 turns.

The ring also gives a moderately large bonus to just one stat much the same as other people have noted before and it gives acid and lightning immunity - should two immunities be on the same item?

Awake! Fire, foes! Awake! This feature is central to my enjoyment of this keyfumbling game! Dont even *think* of messing with it.

Things I inscribe with !*: ?WoR, ?DeepDescent, ?(Mass)Banishment, ?TeleLevel, ?Destruction

I use !k a lot as well. Basic spellbooks for example, to prevent them from stacking up too much by squelching them. Or boots of speed +10 (!k), squelching all non-artifact footgear.

People are playing 4.0 without keymaps, and I am very impressed by that feat, but me, I am not that hardcore and I am waiting for them to work again before moving to 4.0.
