Are the rules for missile critical hits still same as they were in 3.0.x? Only way to get really great critical with missiles was to throw something like large steel chest. Shooter accuracy and shooter multiplier should count a lot more than missile weight. Especially shooter multiplier: an xbow shot can penetrate things nearly as well as medium caliber rifle shot if shot at close range and a longbow isn't much worse.Comment

Does that mean that missile damage will vary with distance? Or are you referencing a real life xbow/longbow?Are the rules for missile critical hits still same as they were in 3.0.x? Is regeneration cumulative? e.g. If I have more than one item with regeneration do I regenerate faster?Comment
-
No, and neither are resistances, protections, or any other flag without a numerical value. Only exception: temporary resistances (as from the spell, for instance) stack with the ones granted from items.--
Dive fast, die young, leave a high-CHA corpse.Comment

If I am not mistaken, an elemental resist reduces damage to 1/3rd, while a double resist takes it all the way down to a minimal 1/9th.
Has any thought been put into adjusting the way regen works? I kinda like the idea of wearing various artifacts with cumulative regen and healing fast enough to assist during combat. Just an interesting idea. Worth considering I'd say. Probably too powerful, but that, of course, can be tweaked in various ways to nerf and beast as necessary.Comment

One inportant feature of Angband is non-stacking stuff. Otherwize items that give a lot of things will be too powerfull. It is possible to make all stuff stacking, but it will require full review and rebalancing objects, etc.Comment

Yeah I see what you are saying. I guess the one I was never sure of was regeneration. It seems like a lot of other games I have played have always allowed stacking of regeneration, and I always found that to be a very useful thing, to be constantly healing. So I think I have always just avoided learning in order to maintain that small chance it worked like I'd hoped.
Another idea is to create a regen spell, allowing for a double regen situation similar to the elemental resist spells. Suddenly that sounds like an awesome idea. Anyone agree?Comment

Another question: Do extra attacks ever show up on randart weapons? I don't feel like I have ever seen one. I just found a quarterstaff of extra attacks <+2> in the temple that does a little more damage than my artifact Tulwar, (although I would lose all types of other benefits so it isn't worth it) but it got me thinkin'Comment

Extra attacks can certainly show up on randarts, and even, very rarely, on non-weapon randarts (so e.g. you could have a shield that gives you +1 attack). Extra attacks are in general very powerful, though, so they aren't especially common on artifacts or randarts.
As for Staff of Recall, *shrug*. I wouldn't use one; staves are 5 pounds and can be destroyed by a single fire attack. You could carry 10 scrolls for the same weight and be at much less risk of being unable to recall.Comment
-
Because it is useless.
The Rod of recall is indestructible, so it's safe to use (assuming no thefts), and only weighs 1 or 2 pounds, depending on whether you have a spare.
The scroll of recall is destructible, but still only weighs 3 or 4 pounds, depending on whether you carry more than 5 or not.
The staff of recalls weighs a minimum 10lbs, assuming only a single backup copy.Comment

A +1 attack SHIELD!!! that is awesome!! So you could have a Mace of Destruction of Extra Attacks (+15,+15) <+2> with a Wicker Shield of Extra Attacks(?) <+1> And just destroy everything! Oh throw in a set of Caestus and a couple of Rings of Damage and Morgoth will be a one-hit wonder!Extra attacks can certainly show up on randarts, and even, very rarely, on non-weapon randarts (so e.g. you could have a shield that gives you +1 attack). Oh, and now that you mention the weight, I can see why that wouldn't matter much!Comment

That seems so obvious now that you guys point it out. I found a rod of recall and was considering disposing of my scrolls to make room, and I suddenly realized that it seemed to be the only rod without a staff/wand counterpart. But now I am thinking harder and realize there a few similar rods like Healing which only has a similar potion. And othersBecause it is useless.
