Or you could change trampling so you get a random chance to either trample or push, monsters with artifacts always get pushed.

This still causes problems with monster spawned at the same moment that recall kicked in. You just lost an artifact. I prefer that in preserve off artifacts in monster inventory do not count as lost. That way the change in game rules is minimal.Comment

If artifacts are untramplable, this seems like the obvious solution. Of course, I think indestructible artifacts in chests should not be exploded when the chest explodes, so what do I know?Comment
