Orcish liquor stuns with prot stunning?

Got a nice artifact Phial with prot stunning (yay), decided to try it out on a swig of orcish liquor....and ended up stunned. I could imagine that food stunning is different than attack stunning, but....seems not quite right.

Vanilla 4.2.3-199-(etc).

Since I assume you're playing Sil, protection vs stun improves your saving throw against stun significantly but doesn't grant immunity

Orcish Liquor (and mushrooms of Terror and Stoneskin) use TIMED_SET rather than TIMED_INC. TIMED_SET bypasses any check for a resistance to the effect. I don't know if that's intentional. As is, it could give Orcish Liquor a niche use for reducing the amount of stunning to 3 - 6, but there's many other items that'll completely cure stunning.

Thanks for the clarification. Another question along somewhat similar vein -- what is the result of simultaneously wearing an amulet of teleportation together with an item cursed with teleport-prevention?

The only special items Merry and Pippin had were blades of Westernesse and cloaks of stealth neither of which can have prot stun. So you cant deduce from there that prot stun is ineffective against orcish liquor.

The teleportation-prevention curse prevents the random teleportation from working.
