not sure whether I am joking

Could we get slow digestion moved from the second column to the third column in the list of object flags on the 'C' 'h' screen?

I think slow digestion belongs with the curses. Keeping full has not been a problem for me playing 4.x. Getting slowed drinking !CCW has been a problem.

    @Eddie--
Remove hunger (and Elven waybread and the exceeding rare Drought of the Ents) sets the hunger clock to reasonable levels.

      Maybe at one time.

The scrolls say they set you to 50%, but they only *raise* you to 50%.

I just bought food and ?removeHunger in town to experiment, and the only decrease from 95% was to 94%, presumably normal for 1 turn. I had a ranger that had played the whole game without learning remove hunger, decided to learn to check, and I tried the remove hunger at somewhere around 70% full and no decrease.

In any event, slow digestion is a flag that is almost never useful, and occasionally leads to an unfortunate circumstance that [maybe] can only be fixed quickly by casting a spell or consuming a special object. That's my working definition of a curse.

Sd is useful for ironman. Especially if playing a half troll

That's a bug. SD is just useless if it can't fix satiation

Are you sure? For recent versions, I mean.

I feel like I am swimming in food equivalents. E.g., just cleared most but not all of level 52, unsquelch and look at the item list:

            1 dried fruit
            5 swigs of orcish liquor
            6 rations of food
            19 scrolls of remove hunger

and also 2 or 3 mushrooms that I picked up and ate for their non-food benefits.

I typically don't buy food in town except mushrooms, and usually don't pay attention to Fed status, except to worry if it is getting too high. I don't keep track, but I suspect there is 10x as much food in the dungeon as I need, and it might be significantly more than that.

This is all assuming you kill most monsters you encounter, which seems likely when playing a half-troll.

Valid point. Food seems ok but ?remove hunger are *very* common or numerous in the latest v

                  ???

My half troll rogues have always mowed down the monsters. My first char testing 4.x was a rogue who never understood why you would steal from a monster rather than killing it. I just checked and I played a dwarf rather than a half-troll but I can't imagine it would matter.

I did make a note, at some point early I was too weak to mow down the monsters, and started over diving from the top. That was so I could mow everyone down.

3605 0' -- Note: too weak to survive L9, take the long way down

From that point forward, carnage mode for 95% of monsters.

It really depends on your @
Hobbit or Kobold Necs need to rest a LOT and thus need more food.
                    HT's just consume it quicker.

i've had an @ die for lack of food. It can happen

My HT warriors used to die fairly often to starvation before 4.2. It's actually a pretty entertaining way to die in Angband as it can be quite drawn out. I don't play that combo in new Angband, though, as I've transitioned to Hobbit Ranger (or some other class+Ranger) to be my go-to now, so food exists pretty much solely as flavor in my games.

Eddie's playstyle does not include resting. He uses CLW instead. Or just dives, hoping for a soft target.

Why just today - I accidentally set my Remove Hunger scrolls to ignore (dropping all seven). And then, 3 levels later I id'd a potion of salt water by drinking it.

Now I have 4 mushrooms total (3 after Eating the first one) and am scrounging the dungeon for food.

Yea salt waters get me at start of game often, but I do carry multiple rations usually.

For whomever who doesn't yet know, there is a cool feature of autopickup inscriptions that limits it to x amount to be picked up. So I have stuff like !CCW and ?Phase with =g20, and remove hungers =g5 etc., to keep me at a steady level of certain items without having to worry about multiple item slots or going overweight.

This is a great advice! Thank you!
I was searching for a document with information about inscriptions! Where can I it?
