@w1 lets you do 'w1' rather than 'wr' or whatever slot the weapon is in. No hot key required.

@0 inscribed on player's primary weapon and on a secondary weapon (or digger) will allos "hotkey" swapping using the "x" key.

Other items can be inscribed with @w1, @w2, ..., @w9, to swap with the "w"ield key and the number. E.g., inscribing a bow with "@w1" and a sling with "@w1", allows player to swap launchers by hitting "w1".

Had a couple of runs with polearms & 1 thing to consider is building a 4lb defender glaive (not that big an investment for a feanor) & getting parry, riposte & momentum. It's got the usual no shield problem all 2handers have but otherwise it's a pretty impressive weapon despite looking fairly ordinary.

Until you find a black sword or something that is; same as all other intermediate smithing builds. Still, Glaives != Spears.

No ability to cart around extra weapons nor armor in the inventory; the player has access to 2 1-and-a-halfhanders, a shield, a short sword/dagger/hatchet, 2 quiver slots and the amor on his body. Convenient ui and keyboard shortcuts allows the player to toggle shield use, wielding their weapon one or twohanded or swap weapons with the press of a key. Weapon cathegories are streamlined as versatile 1-and-a-halfhanders (given enough player strength) and throwing weapons are rightfully delegated to the quiver slots where they belong.

Sil Souls. Never coming to a store near you.

Now, since I can't code and have the nagging suspicion that the above probably isn't as good an idea as I'd like it to be; Spears anyone? They're pretty cool but can/should they be made more viable main weapons within existing design parameters?
If you absolutely had to buff spears then an extra dice roll to setting a spear is the only way. (Polearm mastery required and the extra roll is only for spear/greatspear because an extra dice roll on a glave might be too powerful) Edit- 2d native of a glave +1 for polearm mastery + 1 for a brand and the possibility of a crit ( so 4d9 or 5d9) might be too OP

I'm just going to idly guess that a vampiric spear w/finesse & momentum might actually be the easiest way to go for the Morgoth kill.

Why not add an extra point or 2 of evade to polearms to make them stand out? That would make parry maybe a worthwhile skill instead of worthless.

this would make quarterstaves completely worthless if they didn't also get the boost. i don't know why regular spears don't have evasion but greatspears and glaives do.

do other people think parry is bad?

Blunt weapons need some kind of skill anyway?

Parry is pretty boring, but the math usually checks out compared to just boosting evasion as long as you find a decent [+2]; then again I usually smith lategame these days. Wouldn't mind seeing it go as Riposte is where it gets interesting anyhow.

                      EDIT:
this would make quarterstaves completely worthless
                      "would"?

right now they are the only weapons with a default [+2]. so they can serve some small function, even if they aren't particularly good at it.
