IMO, the starting depth for the weakest Balrog should be at least 700ft. More often than not, the weakest Balrog shows up at 500ft. This is before my first FireResist source, and that forces me to leave the level. Unfortunately, even the weakest one can be *very* hard to fight at 500ft.

I think Duruin is an appropriate difficulty for where he's usually encountered. Just barely doable for a strong Noldor, terrifying to everyone else -- which seems about right. I think e.g. Gilim is pretty darn near as dangerous, and he can hit you from afar (albeit with very low accuracy).

I completely agree about this, for the record.

I don't know if anyone else (besides myself) has come across this on the Sil ladder. But, there is a *huge* score penalty for surfacing the Gates without ANY Sils.

I've done this with and without killing Morgoth. It's quite amusing.

I'm surprised that this doesn't happen more often.

I'll agree with this. He's the littlest balrog, after all. Fire resist isn't a total necessity to fight him, going without makes it *exciting* and *fun*. Pop some consumables and test to see if your build is good enough.

I just remembered a new one. It's a very minor nitpick, but it almost messes me up every time I get to the deep depths.

Can we change Thuringwethil's color to be a bit more obvious / standoutish? Every time I meet her, I assume she's just a normal vamp. Her coloration is very close to the lesser vampire, which she definitely is not lol

This often ends hilariously with me thinking she's just a normal monster and OHKOing her, but the times when it doesn't usually go in the exact opposite direction.

Like, can we make her bright red or something?

Then again, maybe this is just me...

Give her the RED color, similar to Dagorhir, would be a really good idea.

Yeah, I guess it's just not very thematic. But this is one case where I'd choose clarity over theme, for sure

Ok. I'll do something like that.

I'll certainly be combing this thread when I next have some free time to work on Sil!

Orc archers when they flee will often get stuck in the corner not doing anything. If they're cornered they may as well fire rather then just sitting there while you shoot them down.

Well, *I* can't shoot at anything when *I'm* afraid.

I've had them try to smack me with melee, probably the best option, really. Doesn't always happen, can anyone take a look at that? There's a panic code there that doesn't seem to work. This could also be WAD, though.

When hallucinating you see monsters that aren't even in the game, such as Ent wives. (I wasn't sure whether this is on purpose.)

I don't like the abundance of artefact weapons. It feels wrong if you have the choice between 3 artefact swords, 1 axe, 1 polearm, 2 daggers in endgame. While there should be a reasonable likelihood of them, it would be nice if an artefact was something you build around instead of discarding it with ease.

It is hard to see how this couldn't have been deliberate. It is working as desired.

7 weapons before the throne room would be a couple more than ideal in my view. However, if there were only 3 it would put a bit too much pressure on changing your build to fit your weapon rather than vice versa. I think 7 is also more than average, but I'm not sure. We definitely want people to find more artefact weapons than artefacts of any other particular slot, but are open to the possibility that they are a bit too common at the moment. Note that you get far fewer artefacts in Sil than in Angband. I think you might be the first person to complain that there are too many.
