    Changed recall length & deep descent in effect.c which felt like the wrong place. Like it should be in constants.txt . I'm probably going to feel that way about most numbers by the end, so perhaps it's right. Saw single combat while I was poking around. This looks almost good. Like it needs a save or probability in there. If this was PCBs anti summon amulet there'd be a chance of the summoner getting through.

    Having trouble working out how to set slow & haste to 5. I try and trace it through the code and find a bunch of stuff in various files, then it rambles a bit about bitflags & I get lost. A fail there for the day. Tracing how any of the spells and flags work.. not going well so far.

      Ok I changed deep descent in effects.c but it's also in game-world.c so yeah, not sure which does what and where else it is yet

        Worked out the obvious. I looked at dungeon.c anyway, at least Os version. Most is now in game-world? Anyway saw some stuff to do haste and slow there which I suspect I might be able to follow then see where that moved to now.

          Towns finished, well almost. For some reason the store names are set in 2 places so from the outside 1 is the general store. On the inside the prancing pony. At least Bree isn't sitting on a Volcano anymore.

          Thinking of making AC my shard & stun resistance. If I make it 1% / 10 AC that'd be 20% at 200 AC.

          Also thinking of taking advantage of Vs newer stat restore to bring in more early stat drainers. The XP to level is about 1/2 in the early game now, so it's gone quickly. Not sure but it does give early monsters that appear late game more bite.

            Friggin yes!! but Arrrgh... that's frustrating. I found out what is causing so many damn parser errors in the monster list. It's the damn monster lore file in the user directory. This is why reverting to a working backup doesn't work. Why a complete recompile worked & why removing all the o files & recompiling in the same location didn't work.

            Oh well that's 1 problem gone.

            Edit: Looks like that's why I could never get rid of the dogs too. So now that I've decided to keep them, I can get rid of them!

              Ok re-did blows & I might of worked out a way to get dex to count more for a light weapon & str to count more to a heavy weapon then a light weapon. For the strongest starting character the dagger is already on the last line. It can't actually benefit from str. The heaviest weapon now hits that line at maxed str. There's a fudge in here, for a hobbit the dagger is still a heavy weapon but I think I'm fine with that. Seems reasonable anyway.

                Tested a hobbit paladin & rogue and they seemed to go enchanted dagger beats enchanted short sword. Normal shortsword beats normal dagger.

                    Found some stuff in the code for multi-realm. Not sure if it just works or needs fiddling, will check when I get home.

                    My monster list is an abomination. The earliest levels needed spreading to adjust for the level size, then it needs to accelerate hard for my reduced levels. End result is lvl 15 having lvl 15 and lvl 5 monsters in the same place. Somehow it seems to be holding up anyway. On top of that my accuracy and AC are on 2 different combat systems. AC being too high and blows being too low made me notice something though. V combat lacks feel. The closest it comes to something feeling tough in melee is bag of hps or big damage. The accuracy AC relationship is too closely controlled with AC and accuracy holding a steady growing pattern where the warrior holds the same to-hit pattern fairly constantly. So I have to fix my version without fixing it completely and ending up with Vs problem.

                    Some cute things occurred by accident. There's a digging ant that looks cool but was no real threat. Then I was walking down a corridor and an ants nest came through the wall. Quite brutal, I need to keep that but move it a bit later into the game.

                      If you want to change accuracy/AC, you could change AC to evasion, and make accuracy just a straight modifier to monster evasion. Say most monsters have 25% evasion (== 75% accuracy). If you have a Ring of Accuracy (+5%) then your hit rate would be 80%. Quylthulgs would have 0% evasion.

                      You could have a separate damage reduction stat, which is the other effect imparted by AC. If I recall correctly the rate is something like 1% per 20 AC? Maybe it's 1% per 10 AC.

                        I've thought about evasion/protection systems. I'm not yet convinced it's worth the extra work or that I'm prepared to put the time into doing it properly. Anyway my troubles are the monster AC. I've tried swapping some class/stat roles and currently you can't hit large kobolds easily enough. I guess I've always got the V no.s as backup.

                        Cleaned up some of the monster list. The early levels are small enough for mini-themes. So all my centipedes and ants are on lvl 2 now. Cats and dogs 3. So lvl 2 will do mini-centipede nests through normal monster placement. Then they mostly vanish till real pits start showing up. (There's bigger centipedes when the stegocentipede comes into depth.

                          Took a hobbit warrior for a spin and accuracy seems to be falling into place again.
                          Tried to split crits by weapon weight, but that failed to compile
                          Added accuracy/debuffs into crit power
                          Reworked pits - why has no-one done a no-pit flag? Seems like that would be simpler then working out what to ban.
                          Couldn't work out how to change room lighting.

                          Game starts looking more like V round dlvl 15, so hopefully this section is quicker to do.
