Slow going. 50 levels of monsters is...
Anyway wrote a plan to help me. It wont actually look like this because it'll merge the levels with OODs then add in yeeks, kobolds & other fillers. However this'll run through the main probabilities (I hope).

Took a fresh copy of feature branch & mucked with every table in play calcs trying to get endgame stats to 18/100. It was all pretty arbitrary so it'll get a bit interesting there for a bit. I'm going to make all the stat potions rarer. I'll fiddle with race/class & weapon weights till I have what I want, remove the egos & artifacts & give it a try.Comment

with the logic being the hps are a rough difficulty setting. I plan on swapping con & class here. class has a con bonus anyway

Opinion: Giving too many blows to a fighter early is just encouraging it to ignore positioning.
Another opinion: Armour matters more if combat is more swingy

Adjusted again & dwarf/elf paladins get up round 2 now with a dagger. I vaguely remember ages ago when iron spikes vanished that monster door bash was broken & it was guaranteed or near guaranteed to succeed. It was fixed by removing iron spikes. I'll see if I can change that. Don't care much about the spikes but getting wizard lock in would be nice.
Edit: I'll give another of my reasons for dropping warrior blows. I'm over warriors not having an early game. With it taking about 15 dlvls before warriors get to play too. I guarantee my numbers are out of whack, but how in whack are vanilla numbers? For what small fraction of the game do they actually work well?Last edited by wobbly; August 4, 2018, 06:24.Comment

I feel a bit like I'm whining, criticising or bitching about everything in Vs balance. However look at the feature branch comp. That's Morgy not the Balrog people are brutalising on turn 5, character level 2. Pretending V doesn't have serious balance issues... What am I meant to do, cut off the last 30 character levels??
Anyway time to get less worked up, get something working I can test & muck with.Comment
