The maximum unresisted high elemental damage is 550 from Nether.
The maximum single resisted elemental damage is 533 from Fire, Cold, and Electricity.
(From Acid and Poison, it is 266)

P&H will do you almost no good at 606 HP and speed 2--if something is doing more than 300 damage/breath, your best choice is to Teleport Other (or Level), not heal.

DL 75 is genuinely easier than dl 65, because Rings of Speed can be found on the floor (and dropped by orc shamans, for that matter.)

What's the most damage you can take from something non-resistable like gravity or inertia?

Okay Pete, you convinced me to go to dlvl 75. I will probably see PB7 on the way, although the dungeon has been strangely empty of objects during my dive...

Thanks for pushing me to dlvl 75 Pete! My first trip to dlvl 75 was a roaring success! I killed a master vampire and got the Mithril shield of Gil-Galad (worn and stashed Celegorm) PLUS PB7 Purifications and Healings. I killed Angamaite and got a ring of speed +10 (stashed str+4)! I found some seeker bolts of wounding (stashed), but need a good crossbow to shoot them. See the dump at :

When it is replaced, the character dump is attached here. Stats changed : str 18/101, wis 18/***, chr 18/70, speed +12 no haste, hitting 4 less all weapons due to change in str, HP606 BAoBS, SP287 encumbered, AC152 currently praying, and currently on heroism potions for to-hit +8. Ready to recall @965854 turns with 5886 killed, gold 402k. By Pete's formula the game will end at 1.3M turns, unless I get killed of course. My wish list is MoD Deathwreaker on 80, crossbow Cubragol, and boots Feanor. Cough them up RNG!

            If I'm reading this correctly:

Gravity and inertia breath is just 200, time is just 150, but monsters that cast whirlpool can do up to 300 and mana storm can do up to 600! I didn't remember it as being that nasty but it's been a while since I've made it to the end game in V so IDK

Beware: that file is very wrong for many (most?) of the high elements.

The second trip to dlvl 38 was outstanding - a blue dragon pit! I prayed everything except the great storm wyrms to death then did a TO on them. The loot was 2-3 deep throughout the room. I found the artifacts : halberd Osondir (sold), gauntlets Paurhach (sold), quarterstaff Nar-i-vagil (stashed), and broad sword Glamdring (stashed). Promoted clvl 38 @966914 turns by quaffing a ! experience, HP628, SP295, AC153 with prayer, potions gain stat to : str 18/107, int 18/40 same, wis 18/*** (278), dex 18/117, con 18/*** (221) same, chr 18/80, speed +11 (burden 112%), hitting BAoBS 4@36.5+ and Taratol 3@31.5+, shooting crossbow of Haradrim 2@180 with seeker bolts of wounding. I also found two staffs of the magi. So now I have over 2000 reserve mana for praying, plus recharges. Ready to recall @968343 turns with 6004 killed with 116k for promotion. Character dump is attached. Today see :

You can throw away a lot of the junk at home, and start stashing scrolls and possibly ammo for the final battles. (Wrath of God is wonderful, but it's insanely rare. You may waht to use Teleport Other, ?(Mass) Banishment and *Destruction* instead.)

Also, if you find an uber bow (or Sling of Buckland), Slay Evil ammo does significantly more damage than a Priest can expect to do in combat.

Most of those rings you have no chance of using (STR, DEX, rPois), along with all the weaker weapons (everything except Sting.)

The third trip to dlvl 75 was made interesting by killing Scatha the Worm and the Phoenix plus a few ancient dragons. I found and wore an amulet of weapon-mastery, stashed the wis+5 JIC - selling flail Totila for the slot (weakest of six weapons). I was not promoted to clvl 39 until clearing a giant pit on the fourth trip @973167 turns, HP647 wielding BAoBS, SP303, hitting 4@41.5+ BAoBS and 4@35.5+ Taratol, stat changes : str 18/127, wis 18/*** (228), dex 18/119 by potion. Ready to recall @974998 turns with 6201 killed. See :

What may be worthless is a developing situation. Once I get some fire immunity, the prayer books open three slots. Right now I am intending to sell the = acid, then the " wisdom, because they are common, then the slot for ! heroism, then the slot for ! CCW, then I will decide what weapon to sell. I just sold Totila, next to go may be Nar-i-vagil, then Glamdring. But that is all very TBD...

What if you find SMSo Thorin? (Though it should be The Oaken Shield of Thorin.)

As for rings: Speed is just plain better than +STR; DEX is useless; for rPois, generally use an Amulet or Caspanion until the end of the game. For a little stat boost at the end of the game, Rings of Power and Tulkas are the only choices.

EDIT: PS: Use Sting! You get more damage and more speed.

The famed oaken shield of Thorin was just a tree branch.
One Ring to rule them all. One Ring to bind them.
One Ring to bring them all and in the darkness interrupt the movie.

The famed oaken shield was just a tree branch Thorin used after losing his actual shield.

Trip 5 to dlvl 75 killed Ulfang and got boots speed +4, now carrying boots stability as swap. Trip 6 killed Uvatha and got FPA Isildur (later stashed and picked up Sting), then Saruman in a three round battle (he teleports) and got battle axe Lotharang (sold). Well ****! There was also a troll pit - easy loot! Trip 7 was another troll pit which yielded a third staff of the magi - upon recall stashed two and sold ring acid. Trip 8 there was a white dragon pit which yielded two ! experience for promotion to clvl 40 @981171 turns, HP663 when wield BAoBS, SP317, AC152 with prayer, speed +14 burden 119%, ! str to 18/133, hitting BAoBS 4@42.5+ or Sting 6@28.5+ or Taratol 4@36.5+, shooting with a heavy crossbow of extra might 1@270 enchanted ammo. Ready to recall @983466 turns with 6553 killed and 96k for promotion. I am going down slowly to level 98, working pits and vaults plus killing easy unique monsters along the way. I should be near level 50 by the time I get there. Character dump is attached.

Don't measure weapons by "normal" damage--measure them by what they are good at killing.

Sting isn't 6@28.5, it's 6@32 (192) vs just about everything. And Taratol is 4@51 for just about everything and phenomenal against Dragons. Balli is great vs Demons. (Orcs and Trolls don't count--with your character, you can kill them just as easily with a shovel.)

Sting is your best weapon -- you still have max HP, and you get +2 more speed and a damage bonus against most monsters. Keep Taratol as a versatile swap with a great activation. Keep Balli at home in case you need the extra +1 CON.
