With that gear, I'd wear a Ring of Ice (or any number of other rings) before wearing SI. RCold is more valuable than permanent SI, given full Detection, ESP, 40' Infravision, and temporary SI.

Thanks to both of you for the advice! I stashed the = see invisible JIC so that I could wear the = accuracy +11. My biggest problem is that I keep missing the target even with prayer and ! heroism. If I see a = of Ice, I will definitely wear it as a swap for = poison resistance...

Not much fighting except cleared two orc pits with prayer dispel evil. Got two staffs of speed and a = dex +3. Now hitting twice @30.5 MUCH BETTER, wearing the = dex and = resist poison. Ready to recall @741666 turns with 2930 killed. Still scumming dlvl 40 for loot.

Finally promoted clvl 32 after several trips to dlvl 40 @755135 turns with 3132 killed. Wearing = str +3 rather than dex +3. Stats adjusted for equipment are now : speed 5, str 18/53, int 15, wis 18/100, dex 18/100, con 18/46, chr 16, HP201, SP129, AC95 without prayer, hitting 3@30.5+, shooting 1@61.5+ with enchanted ammo.

I am ALMOST tempted to go down to dlvl 50, until I look at what I had in LCC3 before going down. It was : speed 4, str 18/140, int 18/31, wis 18/***, dex 18/130, con 18/106, chr 18, HP393, SP257, AC140, hitting 4@47+, shooting 2@91.5+ with enchanted ammo, started down at clvl 33 @1005760 turns. So I will see what improvement I can get in the next 250k turns, hopefully as good as that in 125k turns or less. I am now trying melee again - works okay against mature dragons and trolls susceptible to protection from evil. Ready to recall @758341 turns with 3164 killed.

You're in both better and worse shape than you say-- you are hitting 3x45.5 vs electricity-vulnerable and 3x60.5 vs dragons. That's really big damage for a Priest, and it's against essentially all monsters. (Teleport other the rest.)

On the other hand, you don't have RPois or RCold. Without those, there are several elemental breathers that can kill you in a single turn, along with a handful of high-elemental breathers. (GCD, Drolem, Balrogs, Ethereal dragon, Death drake, etc.)

With 400HP, RCold, RPois, RConf, there really isn't much risk until DL 60.

Thanks for commenting Pete. As said in the previous post, I am NOT ready to drop below dlvl 40 yet. I am now able to melee most trolls and dragons with impunity, so long as the dragons are not ancient - I always TO those. On the latest trip, I found iron helm Holhenneth (stashed) in a treasure room and killed everything except impact hounds. Now I feel comfortable at dlvl 40 versus running for my life. As in game LCC3, I am not killing unique monsters which have large escorts. Instead I TO the unique and kill all the escorts for treasure - hoping for an artifact. I remember in fond hope of a repetition that a hill orc dropped PB Wrath of God for me at dlvl 40 in LCC3. Give me ORC pits! I am still too weak to clear troll pits because clvl 32 PFE does not work on the stronger trolls, of which there are about a dozen or so in a pit. Ready to recall @765220 turns with 3337 killed...

Level feelings : uninteresting, unsure, little lucky! I eagerly went for the light crossbow that I detected - surely it was Cubragol! IT WAS NOT EVEN AN EGO! After a long search, finally found the artifact in a corner room - the ACM of Caspanion. Now that IS lucky - just what I needed. I also found a rod of recall. So I recalled, wore Caspanion, stashed Thalkettoth, wore the = dex+3, sold the = poison resistance, sold all ? recall, and stashed a ! *healing* that I found. Stats now : HP233, SP160, AC96 without prayer, str 18/53, int 18/10, wis 18/130, dex 18/100, con 18/76, chr 16, speed +2 without haste, killed 3430, and ready to recall @780030 turns. Character dump is attached.

Caspanion is a nice find. There is still a chance that you'll find better body armor and have a need for poison resistance. I'd retrieve the ring of Poison Resistance from the store and ditch the potions of restore charisma and/or the ring of accuracy. Having CHA maxed isn't that useful, especially now that you have plenty of money, and you are extremely unlikely to wear the ring of accuracy over any of your other rings.

I decided that you were right, so I bought back = poison resistance and sold = accuracy to free up a slot. Thanks for the wake up call!

First trip down uninteresting, killed Ulwarth and found leather shield of the Haradrim (sold BM). Second trip was unsure with an orc pit, got leather shield of Celegorm HOORAH! Also two potions wis to 18/150 with equipment, SP201 is MUCH better! Now all I need is resist fear, sound, shards, nexus, nether, chaos, and disenchant, with regeneration, see invisible, stats 18/***, and much more speed. That's ALL! LOL LOL! Ready to recall @794756 turns with 3657 killed and promotion 16830 away...

Given that you aren't diving, you are still only a handful of stat potions away from near-endgame strength. You need a bit of CON (233 HP is very weak), and +5 more WIS to get 0-fail. With either of these, you can go safely to any depth.

Much of your wish list will come with time, so long as you are deep enough for speed rings. But you really don't need nearly all those resists: once you hit 550HP and zero-fail on *Healing*, you just don't have to worry about non-elemental resists that don't have dangerous side effects*. Just Teleport Away any monsters you don't want to fight, and concentrate on killing useful ones--especially Sauron and Morgoth.

                        * this means: RConf, and RDIs while fighting Sauron.

Thanks for commenting Pete! Finally promoted clvl 33 on dlvl 40 @799810 turns with 3721 killed, HP239, SP207, AC104 without prayer, hitting 3@30.5+, shooting 1@64.5+ enchanted ammo, saving throw is 100%, magic device is heroic, base stats : str 18/23, int 13, wis 18, dex 18/50, con 18/26, chr 13. I have seen NO ! augmentation, which sucks. I have killed 284 canines, 321 insects, 376 men, 1196 orcs, 114 trolls, 204 hounds, and 61 dragons. I have identified : 28 rings, 9 amulets, 32 potions, 31 scrolls, 20 wands, 17 staffs, 15 rods, and 3 mushrooms. I found 13 artifacts so far. Not bad for two weeks playing? Ready to recall @803078 turns with 3732 killed.

Edit : I have been on dlvl 40 193k turns, it seems like forever : six days, five promotions...

On the third trip I found battle axe of Balli Stonehand (stashed). On the fourth trip I killed Ibun and found the elven cloak of Luthien (worn and sold Holcolleth), and gauntlets Paurnimmen (stashed and sold Cammithrim). Now AC126 without prayer, potions gain stat for base to : int 14, dex 18/68, killed 4049, ready to recall @826159 turns with $240k and 31597 to next promotion.

Well, in my current game I found 19 artifacts in two days--not bad for 7(?) hours playing! OTOH, at speed +11, I'm not likely to kill any dungeon bosses... I had a tough enough time with Eol.
