Funnily enough, with preparation, Morgy was much less of a challenge than the Tarrasque and Gothmog. As others suggested, Thrust Away made all the difference...

Thoughts - I relied on a handful of spells in the end - Meteor Storm and Cacophony for damage, Clear Mind and Dimension Door plus the standard detection spells and the buffs in MB5. I could have managed without MBs 2,3,7 and 9 if I had to for the last few levels.

* Offensive spells do seem a little unbalanced in how they're gathered - once I had MB8, I was sorted but without it, I would have struggled to take out any serious monsters It seems to make the game a little tilted towards looking for DB8 and then killing stuff - planned?

* Clear Mind and Thrust Away make most monsters trivial once you've enough mana and speed to keep them out of range. I didn't have to use any pots of Restore Mana for the final battle.

* The AI is still a little funny for some monsters - Sauron didn't attack me once but just went back and forth around a corner while I hit him with splash damage from Meteor Storm. He didn't even move when I was restoring mana.

* The offensive spells are good enough that the original idea of a mage as a class that would rely on magical devices went out the window - I didn't use a single offensive rod or wand after CL30, apart from one use of Ilkorin when I was too lazy to Clear Mind a few times. :) Maybe tone down the offensive spells a little and add a speciality that improves magic device output by a lot (25%+)?

Apart from that, a nicely balanced class. I would have struggled without the +26 speed from equipment, though!
