That's my very first Entroband character to really get anywhere and I'm loving to play it... Really nice early clearances at Haunted House and Killing Fields... :) I've got a feeling I can go deep...

you should have no problem dual wielding this and sting. Ignore what the attack rating sais, you'll hit a lot anyway

Nether res is basicly useless around you current level and will be for a while, so you can replace the ring with a light/dark res one (yeek cave boss!)

a Rosary Amulet of Anti-Teleportation instead of rAcid. Helps against "commands you to return", gravity and others

hmm I don't have a light/dark res ring so if I want to keep those resistances I can't afford dual wielding. Although I do agree that having immunity to elec (as I believe Taratol gives) instead of no elec resistance at all would be nice...
Anti-Teleportation isn't important yet, as I haven't descended to gravity depths, and "commands you to return" just means that I get very close to a monster and as this is the only way I can kill them that's no big problem yet, either.

as I said: "yeek cave boss"

he always drops a res light/dark ring :)
on the anti teleport: it is a taste decission I guess. for me, the phase spiders/blink dog annoyances overweighted the sometimes usefull results. And it's not like you can't take it of if you want to use a porting trap or something. Caspanion should give res base. You can *id* in the shops too, so you don't have to be unaware of what your stuff does

On 17.5.2006 15:54 lahtonen.sampsa@suomi24.fi wrote:
hmm what shop can I get my stuff *id*'d in? I can't find any... Just checked from the a_info.txt, Caspanion's the same as in all other variants I've played; res_acid, res_pois & res_conf but nothing else. (Good about res_pois; I was mainly wearing Caspanion for res_conf and was kind of wondering why poison monsters didn't hurt me more ;-) )
Maybe I should descend to the dark, frightening depths of the yeek cave...

oh yeah the library... I had just ignored it many times and this time I walk in and start wondering, 'Hang on, what the hell does "research item" mean?' ;-) Lucky enough to NOT have Jack of Shadows as the dl38 quest monster...

shops to *id* in:
Telmora (b): top left building (research for 2000gp
Morivant (c): middle south building (research for 1300 gp)
Angwil (d): south left building (research for 1500gp)

Made some nice progress, found some nice stuff... but still can only cover 3 of the basic resistances!!... :( Also had some very awkward situations with the raw Logrus. Some nice progress, nice new items found... now res_base is covered but missing res_pois... Played a bit with Stormbringer, who looked totally harmless, to get a Restore Life Levels quaffed; changed my plan when I noticed I was very low on HP and had a mortal wound.... A very irritating situation arose when I knew there was an artifact somewhere on the level but couldn't find it. A careful look around told me that yes, there actually was full 1 grid I hadn't explored as yet. Of course it was there... and of course it was no use at all.

switch storm to the right hand, and also switch ring positions. This way you'll get the life leeching hits first, while remaining max damage :)

More nice monsters killed and nice stuff found... Cleared the Royal Crypt, which was very easy (danger level 70?? I ask you... then again, berserkers are probably the best class to deal with the undead, and I had the right kind of equipment. Didn't go near the drujs of course)

Someone might ask where I've spent these two days and five character levels between the last update and now. The answer is: in the Spawning Pits. Killing all those quylthulgs takes REALLY long when you don't have an adequate distance attack and can't detect 'em... Got super-good items though. Had to drop a few artifacts off there 'cos didn't have enough room for them all...

What? This late and still no RPois? How did you survive this long?

Most probably combination of berserker's good HP (currently 19xx), luck and the fact that I haven't really met more dangerous poisoning creatures than AMHDs, Venom Wyrms and Drolems (after all I'm only 3000' deep). And I eat AMHDs, Venom Wyrms and Drolems for early breakfast. They take full 2 turns to kill... (maybe 3 for Venom Wyrm if I'm unlucky). Earlier on, when I didn't have enough HP for those, I had RPois from Caspanion. Now it looks like a minor detail that would be nice to have but isn't really all that important.
