This is my first real win in Z. Once I came all the way to the Serpent and

dungeon but I was soon overwhelmed by uniques. At the moment I know 163
uniques (How many are there?) and I had killed all but 14 of them. Then I
tried again with some permanent wall at my back to keep the crowd under

uniques again, but Morgoth I teleported away and Tsathoggua got embedded in
a rock and was never seen again!

I like it that the Serpent dropped both the Massive Iron Crown and a scroll
of *Remove Curse*

I played a rogue so that I did not have to worry about traps, I don't think
any trap sprung on me after I was level 30 or so. I really enjoyed this. I
took a Klackon to get Confusion resistance but as I always find Thorin it
wasn't such a must.
My strategy to play the game was to collect rods. I got some from my first
quests and these were powerful enough to kill most monsters. After a while
I had 20 Rods of Lightning. When the rods of *foo* Balls showed up I
collected those at home. When I had 7 Rods of Cold Balls I started carrying
them. Eventually I settled on 30 Rods of Acid Balls. I put my finger on
the trigger and let fly. Once (without noticing) I took out a drolem this
way.

I played in a Vanilla town because townscumming hardly works with the
multiple villages.. I townscummed a lot and I also stairscummed a lot. In
the end I hung around at 4900 ft to gain *healing* and life potions. Cast
Enlightment, check the level and then leave if there is no good potion or
scroll. I tweaked k_info to set the Restore Life Levels equal to that of
the Restore Stat potions. Knowing my self I would still wait for restore
Life Levels to show up in town if I hadn't tweaked the rarity.
My luckiest finds were my Ring of Speed (+22) when I didn't have a Ring of
Speed at all. After finding Brand for another +10 to speed I didn't bother
with Ringil and Feanor. With the Ring of Speed (+19) I could have reached
speed 71 unhasted!
I found The Power Dragon Scale Mail 'Bladeturner' (-8) [50,+35] (It does
exist!). With its great activation I had no trouble at all with fighting.
Only The Unicorn of Order and Nodens I tried to beat and gave up, they
healed too quick for me. I still have a Figurine of a Greater rotting
quylthug but I never dared to use it.

The start went like a breeze with the 49 quests. Some easy ones to start, I gathered enough money to buy a pesticide machine gun. A rod of fire bolts at 90% discount helped too.
Then, at 2050 ft Malekith the Accursed. He is very quickly and liberal with mana bolts. I had only 300 HP at the time and speed +3. So taking him on meant risking instant death. A pattern vortex took me down from 700+ to 27 HP. The next pattern vortex took me down from 723 to 7! Silly me, I just had to try if I read r_info correct, after all how much damage can 50d50 do! Ahem, 2500 in total, I don't think I'll try again.
I found a town where there are two Unique Swordsman, a Unique Warrior Hall, a Unique Heavy Armoury and stairs. I went there with about 500,000 gold and after a bit of townscumming I got an Artifact Axe with Wraithfrom!
I killed Ancalagon by always staying out of his LOS, I didn't want to handle all those Ancient Dragons he can summon. The same with Benedict the Ideal Warrior, I didn't want him to heal either.
Dworkin 'Borkin' Barimen (The original swedish chef) is not evil so I took him out with 6 Rods of Acid Balls, again by jumping all over the place to avoid him summoning and have my rods recharge.
Then I reached lvl 45 and could boost myself to lvl 50 with abusing Trumps of Doom: cast Summon Hounds 5 times and then Death Dealing twice. With macroes you can do this in two seconds. Rest and repeat.
The next challenge was The Destroyer. Seeing that he has no resist Acid or Chaos I tried him with a dozen Rods of Acid Balls and a Chaos Dragon Scale Mail. I got absolutely nowhere. When I went back to town to rethink my strategy I saw the Wraithform Axe and I realized I could try with that and summoning Cyberdemons. So I stood in a wall, summoned a dozen or so Cyberdemons. They blasted him into pieces no problem. I had to heal a few times but it was no sweat at all.
My quest for 11 Black Reavers was really simple after I realized that I should start each Black Reaver by slowing him. My stack of 8 Rods of Slow Monster would slow them 4 out of 8 shots, giving me 5 turns for their 1 turn. Or something like that anyway.
Rinaldo bloodcursed me as he died. He drained my stats and summoned some friends to avenge him. The Cyberdemon fired a rocket immediately (I had my shards resist swapped out, of course) and Julian hit me. From 920 to 227 HP. Then my Dimension Door failed (1% instead of the usual 0%) and I went down to 75 HP. The next DD didn't fail and I bailed out of there. So Julian is next. I already have his armour, hehehe, now I want his head. He cast a blood curse too, but it was a dud, luckily.
Ymir the Ice Giant has fallen. By keeping me out his sight but continuously throwing Orbs around the corner I have avenged my unfortunate cousin. He stepped into view of this Giant only once without a winter jacket and Ymir crushed him under a block of ice for 800 damage. Revenge is mine!
After a few more weak uniques (Gothmog, Kaschei, Fenris) my next challenge was 20 Great Wyrms of Law. First I tried them with Death Dealing but it takes about 20 casts, a bit much. Then I saw that they don't have Acid resist so out came my 17 Rods of Acid Balls. First I slowed them, then zapped them and a few Death Dealings to finsh them of. Nasty Wyrm made easy.
Invulnerability combined with Dispell Evil, I have endless mana from 3 Staffs of the Magi, makes live easy too. I am now at 4900 ft, skipping between levels to root out uniques. Just now I took out Loki, Cantoras and Elhort at the same time...
Before that the trio of Caine, Klingsor and the King in Yellow posed no problem either. The only problem is a luxury problem: The uniques and their summons leave enormous amounts of objects. Sifting through that takes equal time to killing monsters.
I did this until there only 10 uniques left, including the Unicorn of Order and Nodens Ponens. I decided to leave them alone as they are such a pain.
Time to take on the Serpent. With Invulnerability this is easy. I cast 4 Invulnerabilities in total. I killed it with Dispell Evil, recharging my mana with 8 restore mana potions.
