I was trying to get through a vampire community to retrieve Nimloth. YASD!

Rangers in O just play like weak warriors with bad spells. Bow damage (per 3 shots) was MUCH lower than melee and I had a pretty good bow.

I think this char would have come into its own when a decent amulet of wis was found. I think I still would have preferred melee to archery for raw damage though.

Acid is way to nasty in O. Even with constanly buying out the scroll shop, I couldn't keep up with acid breathers. I tried to powerdive out of the range of water hounds, but they keep showing up even 15 levels ood.

Given the bow you're wielding, the reason you were doing more damage in melee is probably because Amrod and Amras are bugged. Amras is (I believe) only x1, rather than the x3 it should be, so it does only a third the damage it should.
