Got me a Killer Bee form again. Now, to ROFLSTOMP some wargs :)

This game's plan is the CfZS route with good stealth and device skills. Let's see how it goes.

Monster symbols: C = Canine, f = Feline, Z = Zephyr Hound and S = Spider. Going for speed, stealth, etc with non-humanoid bodies, but I'm willing to revise my plan should I luck into a nice alternate form.

Two tiger attempts failed. After spamming a choice quest reward (choose your body form wisely for tailored dops!) I think it is time for the Orc caves and hound depth. I really like this little bee, though. I'll cry when he is gone :(

Deep Ones are massively awesome for this point in the game. This incarnation has been focusing on humanoid forms since beastly melee appears a bit lacking without lucky early combat rings. I rode an Orc captain for a long while, then an Ogre, and now, a Deep One!

Sorry, but the Deep One had to get a speed nerf. At some point I really just need to roll thru r_info and manually assign speed values.

At the moment, I'm freezing monsters with both my giant flamberge and my defensive auras. It's a pretty effective combo thus far. We'll see how it holds up down at stat gain level.

Since when did Deep ones get the Speed nerf? version 3.3.0 or 3.3.1?

3.3.1 meaning it only affects me at the moment :(

+10 speed at this stage for a humanoid body is too much. It's OK if you are a tiger or hydra or some such since your melee will suck to compensate. At the moment though, I melee for 415 damage per round (cold) so I won't even consider alternate forms, especially innate attack forms. Even with a +5 speed boost. I might make it +3.

Perhaps forms that can wield weapons should automatically get a biff (including my beloved dreads)? Forms with innate attacks then get the full boost. After all, is Kenshirou innately fast or is he (abstractly) wearing a ring of speed?

On 18.5.2014 23:50 chris wrote:
Yes, I think the litmus test for speed shall be the ability to wield a weapon. Mostly, this implies a humanoid form and will get a fractional speed boost. Other forms get the full speed boost. So Deep Ones shall be +3 base speed rather than +10 (This is still huge for mid CL20s and they get an extra bite attack and innate resists).

Yes, CL28 and Con all the way up to 18/83 despite a late start boosting it. For some reason, potions of Str/Dex/Con have been plentiful this game, probably in some vain effort of the RNG to make up for all of its past stinginess! (Or to set me up for a huge takedown?)

A Ring of Speed (+8) has been hanging out in the Angwil Black Market for what seems like all game. Ha, ha, RNG, very funny. So from no gold to 100k gold. It's still there. Then I noticed my gold had grown to 300k and it was *still* *there*. On a lark, I sold out my home and *it* *was* *still* *there*!

Holy, cow. RoS +8 with 77k gold to spare. I had to part with many a tasy, though, but nothing I can't live without.

Otherwise, not much progress as I have been working on more coding changes. But my super duper Deep One form is about to expire, so it's time to turn on the stealth, me thinks.

One good thing about the Dragon's Lair is ready access to good rings of combat.

Stealth = Off as I'm opting for a more balanced approach with the Ultra-Elite Paladin. Of course, my wisdom sucks so I don't get the full benefit, but they make adequate fighters and have a good amount of hitpoints.

I'm working a vault at the moment and my Legendary [2] stealth is definitely not enough. Almost time to bail, but a pair of unaware potions are just around the corner ... (Famous last ellipsis)

Darn, why can't I learn the cool stuff?

I'm still using an Ultra-Elite Paladin for the innate healing and resist base. Plus, they are excellent fighters. I've tried a few Knights Templar, Archons and even a Shadow-lord, all of which I think might be upgrades. But an Aether vortex? Now that would be something :)

Damn this form is quick. I'm playing without shards, which is stupid, but this form is so powerful I can't resist. I really just need to wait for good usable equipment to drop and this should take too long. Should it?

The one downside to the weird body is I've stopped trying to get new forms. Obviously, any other mimicry will leave me naked and exposed. So I've been passing on Archliches and the like, which really are one of the end game forms I want. Hmm ... I think I'll continue leveling up as is. Did I mention how damn quick this form is?

Slowing things down again. For a bit, I thought I was invincible! Jisisl taught me better. I guess I need a humanoid form for those sorts of situations!

So, the two things really killing my Keeper were shards (obvious) and fear. Especially fear. Really! Fortunately, one of my combat rings was activating for heroism or I would have had to bail many a battle. (It doesn't help when the Yamata breathes on 10 of its 12 moves!). These three issues (Dispel Magic, Shards and Fear) have me back in my ultra-elite paladin form. I've managed better gear by this point, so I now have all resists with very good damage output.

Time to hunt some new forms though I bet this paladin is strong enough to win with.

I conquered The Arena and squandered the reward. I was trying to lose these giant gloves but the scroll didn't turn out too well.

Anyway, all the good forms for the mimic were hanging out in The Arena, but I couldn't seem to learn anything. I tried quite a bit for Knights Templar and Archliches, but failed every time. Uniques have been similarly uncopiable, except for the brief amount of time taken to slay them. But then my first Solar taught me a new form. Just like the Keeper, a difficult foe gave a nice form without trying to scum for it. Very nice. And while I feel a little guilty that Demandred has spent his entire life hiding amongst the good (first an Ultra-elite paladin and now a Solar), I now realize that it is actually the way of the shadow to corrupt the forces of light. And now that I have Callandor, my power is infinite :)

OK, the J is pretty buff in 3.3.1. Or I just got unlucky? At any rate, I really should have cleaned up the big 5 demons (Nyarlathotep, Shub-Niggurath, Great Cthulhu, Azathoth and Gothmog). Of these, many made multiple guest appearances greatly depleting my scrolls of destruction (I used 20 or so). Also, rather stupidly at one point, I mimicked the J himself causing my gear to overflow and forcing me to teleport away with new resistance holes! Sigh, but I got back to my goodies at last.

Perhaps I am a poor player, but this was a very tough end battle. I found myself relying on 4% fail teleports 3 times during the battle with magic dispelled and hp in the 400 or below range. In the end, my killing blow was landed with the Shub-Niggurath and Godzilla both in LoS and hp around 600. Very risky, but the battle went very poorly on me for some reason, and I had to throw caution to the wind.
