Just on my next character now after "Ninjant" my Klackon Ninja met his fate at the hands of "The Treader of Dust" on Angband 38...

Was interested in the concept of a Weaponmaster specializing in Shields so thought I would give it a go (even though I can see not having slays and brands could be a big problem).

No amazing drops for the moment but we'll see how he goes. Am trying to be patient in not doing Dark Elven Lord's Quest until the Phial is found naturally but I think I'm going to give in and just complete it if it doesn't turn up soon!

Carrying Sting for healing and Excalibur for swap in case I want to try 'Bulwark' and use Excalibur but will only do that if I feel I have no choice.

About to attempt Cloning Pits. Swapped in 'Soft Leather Boots of Siberia" for extra HP's and resistances and gave up +4 speed from boots of speed (+4). Not sure if I have the resources but we'll soon see.

Dwarven shield gives 475 hps normal damage in this configuration so we'll see if that's enough.

Shield was fine for the job with various weapons during quest + Sting being used for healing during the quest.

Lots of minor artifacts picked up with the additions to his kit being Thror (reward) + Colannon + The Stone of Lore. Too bad he didn't pick up the boots he really wanted.

ahm - I normally aim to get to the Cloning Pits @Chlvl 30 (at least I used to in Hengband and Entroband) and this generally means you walk out at around Chlvl 32 or so. Generally when I can do 250-300 pts of damage and have 350-400 hps with some decent stealth - I find that's enough (unless you are unlucky and get some out of depth nasties as the extra entertainment - :-)

He defeated Rinaldo on Angband 38 straight after the Cloning Pits but he didn't drop anything worth adding to his ki.

This is the first character I've had through the Cloning Pits in PosChengband (and each subsequent quest from here will be the first time in this variant. Hopefully there aren't any major surprises.

Not sure where to next but I'm sure I'll work it out (or die trying).
