Enter ... wow. Did I read that right? What are the odds of rolling THAT? I was stunned for a moment. I had to check the Tolkien Lore to see if there was a fitting name, wasn't it Galadriel?? It was! But I decided to go with her daughter, with whom I imagined I would tell a story. And so, Celebrian was born.

This dive has been different already: no more holding down the search key; no more bull-rushing even in innocuous situations; and ... well, no unnecessary risks. It's almost like I'm in the dungeon there with her; the Vanyarin bloodline depends on it!

I'm happy to report this charater's still alive. The vault didn't kill me.. it was actually pretty tame. The worst baddie was a Nalfashnee, which for me at that point was still a bit tough. I saved Gabriel for last; as soon as I freed her from her room, she was right on top of my char, but I was able to teleport her away. There was surprisingly little loot in the vault, but I did find some boots of speed, which together with the plus two attacks with the katana I had, made me feel pretty stout at dlvl 24.

The really cool thing is the gear I got around dlvl 38: first I came across an Amulet of Trickery, and then a baddie dropped Feanor! I think that's the first time I've found the boots. I've got one of the best kits I've ever had this early in the game.. and I found my mom's phial! Yay.

On the flip side, I'm posting again because I just stumbled across another Greater Vault at dlvl 44, but this time, it's not tame at all. There are a lot of high-level uniques, and high-level undead, that I probably can't handle. Cantoras, reavers, drudges, etc. Yuck. I've got to keep my wits about me! Go, Celebrian, go!

That was some vault. By the time I finished it, and everyone had barfed their treasure all over the dungeon, I had quite an inventory management problem. I had to leave some artifacts behind, but they weren't anything I needed, fortunately. I had a pretty epic battle with Gabriel, but in the end I won out. I didn't try to tackle Cantoras, or the reavers, but that was it.

I ended up with some more things that ought to be part of my final kit. I'm still pretty floored, as I've not found some of these artifacts before, and they've turned up way out of depth. I'm trying not to get over-confident, as I know the RNG could strike at any time.

I love how the dungeon lights up with telepathy and multi-hued hounds! :)
