I started as Death/Nature, and played that way for a looong time. But then I grew very tired of trying to maintain my alignment. For some reason, the effect of going good was +10% to my fail rates in both Nature and Death, rather than the advertised +4%. When I cleared my alignment for the umptieth time, and then went Chaotic in the Old Castle quest, I decided to abandon Nature altogether for Craft. Herbal Healing was going to be 19% fail at CL50, so it wasn't really worth it. The big early take with this guy was a bubble vault at DL60. The Destroyer and Godzilla were on the loose! Ample use of Earthquake cleared all I could, but Nappa was guarding a x4 crossbow. Between him and the Destroyer/Godzilla was a 5d5 longsword. I managed to kill Nappa, which was tough at the time. I quaked away Godzilla and teleported away The Destroyer. The crossbow was Brand, but the sword was Worpal. I also picked up Aglarang in the Vault, but lacking Bless Weapon, I can only consider it as a swap, and it does less damage then Hellfire so I will probably just never bother.

Not sure what evil resist vs. hellfire would be, but if it's as bad as enemies resisting elements (1/9th damage I think?) I just don't see how it's going to happen.

Only drawback is the higher costs, higher fails, and you take something like 30hp damage every time you cast. But killing the Serpent from a distance is sweet ...

Thank you Tiamat! The Weaponmaster says this little weapon does 903-2744 damage versus dragons. Well, with a 17.5x slay and +2 attacks, it better do something nice :D

Wow! I ran into a vault. The vault had a Sky Drake. And some silly Amberite. And a couple other evil uniques. So, I am now quickly CL48! I was wondering a while back how I was going to last this long, but with my sword of dragon death, it was a breeze.

Now, I think I will go back to pure caster form for the following reasons:

[1] Build skill with Hellfire. Priests can't learn spells over and over the way mages can, so you need to cast them umpty thousand times.

[2] Opportunity costs. I can swap in a +10 speed ring. I was using slaying to boost my accuracy.

[3] I never killed a Sky Drake in under 6 rounds, despite the expected 1800 damage per round. Accuracy was the issue. Actually, I think it always took exactly 6 rounds so damage is more like 1000. Hellfire vs. a Sky Drake does 1332, but with the high fail rate, it is about the same. Maybe a tad less.

[4] Shards resistance. C'mon. I'm *not* wearing Dor-Lomin?

Fail rate will be 28%. Cost is now 159sp but with economical mana and skill, it should head down towards 60sp I think.

Boy, I don't think I've ever blown up so many rods before. At least 15-20 so far have been consumed by wild magic, which is way faster than I can find them. I have a huge stash of !RestoreMana, but I am saving those for the final battle. So, I just need my Eat Magic to hold out until I get there!

Sauron dropped Amber, and Combat (2 Hellfires!) dropped Crimson. I should probably wield that, now that I think about it ...

That had to be satisfying, blowing Combat away with two button presses. I always like macroing my main attacks to tab--almost kinda like a FPS hehe.

Hellfire rocks against the forces of good ... but I never saw the Unicorn. I never saw Nodens. Nor Raphael, nor Uriel, nor Bahamut not Azriel. In fact, the only significant good monster I saw was Combat Echizen, but when you mow the likes of him down in 2 turns, he hardly seems significant.

A pretty easy Serpent battle. He got me down to 120hp once, and I'm not sure what he did to do that other than launch a rocket? I must have let my hp slip too low the turn before. He never touched me, which is just fine with me :D

Now, a mage has 9% better fail rates with Hellfire and Wraithform (which I never cast, btw). But with the Shrewd personality, that is actually a 12% boost. I'm not sure why I haven't done more mages? My 22% fail was very annoying!
