    I noticed somethin'.

Your Variants page lists 28 games, but your Ladder page lists 46. Do I sense a disturbance in the space-time continuum?

Yes, I am guilty of having been lazy to create page for every existing variant. So take the Variants tab as an editor's selection of top variants available today.

Fair enough, but, um, your Variants page discludes Kangband, originator of the Angband quest. For shame.

Hm, the big problem i see here is: There were thousands of Angband variants - but most of them aren't maintained since years and will never be maintained again. So what is the use of putting them onto the variants page? Just to have some weeks later a post why the download page for xyzband isn't reachable anymore? Actually i would say that there are more variants than there should be.

I also though long which variant i will "support" in Arch Linux. And i decided to use only those that are actively maintained or really special (like Sangband). There is no use for a variant which is dead since 5 years. And if someone takes over the ownership, he can always come here, ask for a page and i'm sure that pav will give it to you

          Shameless Plug:

I've got a semi-complete variant list here. I'm hosting the mirror, so no danger of the links going dead, and most of the variants have the spoilers up as well.

Tsk. The originator of the randomized "Kill X monsters on dungeon level Y" quests was Qangband. Kangband added a lot of stuff, and might be the originator of fixed quests, but it wasn't the first to add random quests.

Okay, but, um, to be fair, Qangband is also discluded, even on the Ladder page!

Probably because there never was a single chardump posted.

If anyone feels like helping me out on the Variants tab, let me know, I'll sign you up for write access to that page.

Hm, depends on what has to be done? Finding mirrors and stuff for the latest version of all those variants which have existing chardumps? Should be possible.

Could I suggest that the Variants tab remain as the place for more active variants, and have a link to the variant list on the Links tab? I think the number of variants can be a bit overwhelming anyway, and it's useful to separate the active from the inactive. On a personal note, I am also thinking of the increase in the existing confusion between FAangband and Fangband

You know, I was thinking of renaming FuryBand to F+Angband....would that help?

All we need now is someone to rewrite Angband in F#...
