When I started playing in, I think, 1993, there was one terminal at school that was connected to the internet. But you could only use it if you were doing electronics A-level. The rest of us had to pass round floppy disks of Angband in a clandestine fashion.Comment

Downloads are so modern-ish ^^
I got my copy of Moria on public domain disk, bought at a local store. Ah, those days, when the department stores had computer departments with lots of shelves filled with public domain disks.Comment

I found Moria on a 3.5 diskette looking for porn among my brothers diskette collection. He had like, 100 diskettes of random games and nonsense. Looking back at the 20+ years of spent time with roguelikes, I probably would've been better off finding the hidden porn stash. I did manage to find the world's awfulest strip poker game...You are on something strangeComment

hahaha just read xkcd
To be honest I started playing angband just some years before napster and kazaa started
if my old CDs actually could be read I could restore some of my ancient games on permband, vanila, z and my modified version of cthangband
Playing on DOS somehow was so much more comfortable, the windows felt more ordenated and the fonts better than what I can do on windows now.Comment

Nyet? As in the DOS Tetris clone? Wow, I thought I was the only one who remembered that...
