    Other games?

So what do you guys play when not fooling around with Angband?

Me? I'm fond of Strange Adventures in Infinite Space, and particularly the sequel, Weird Worlds: Return to Infinite Space, both of which are almost Roguelikes anyhow. I'm fond of a game of Civ, also. In general, the more open-ended and replayable the game is, the better. I probably wasted a fair portion of my teenage years on Elite.

Any suggestions of what's decent out there?

I like the Space Empires series...
Explore expert WoW guides, breaking news, and the latest updates. Enhance your gameplay with tips, patch notes, and insights from the World of Warcraft community!

The fifth one is pretty buggy but when you buy it at Gamestop you get the fourth one included with it so you can grab both and take your pick which you like better... there are a ton of mods and custom ships out there for SE4, and there's a lively multiplayer server (for 4 and 5) at http://seiv.pbw.cc so you can get into online Star Trek vs. Star Wars grudge matches if you so desire

I'm stuck at Europa Universalis III at the moment. From the open source, I played a fair share of OpenTTD recently.

God of war II just arrived...

And S.T.A.L.K.E.R. Day of Defeat, HL2 when they get around to releasing the next episode. Oblivion (a little, but its too similar to Angband to enjoy).

I tend to find I can't play anything RPG related, as it makes me want to code again...

I played that, but it kinda sucks. I heard they were making a patch with a cheat mode for infinite gold, I might give it another go at that point

I had a good game or two of Colonization http://www.freecol.org/. I missed the trade routes but they should be implemented during the next versions.

I'm a big fan of a Japanese shooting game series called the Touhou Project, and my personal ambition is to someday create a roguelike in that setting.

I have also been enjoying Puzzle Quest for the Nintendo DS recently.

I've been playing Kingdom of Loathing for a month (it even has a "Nethack" dungeon), but without ascending. I got stuck in the Topiary Maze and going further is too tedious.

Kingdom of Loathing, Strange Adventures in Infinite Space, and Weird Worlds are all favorites of mine (the hedge maze is EASY once you figure out how to use the little puzzles). Now and then I play a few games of Spheres of Chaos, or Zuma Deluxe, or an old-time RPG called Realmz.

Lately, I've been playing mafia, a kind of socializing campfire game.

I've never really been into video games much but I've enjoyed the Baldur's Gate series in the past. Mission Thunderbolt is one of the greatest roguelike-dungeoncrawl games ever made that I've seen (as well as the sequel, Misson Firestorm), though unfortunately it was only really released for classic mac os so I haven't been able to play for a while. I think that Home of the Underdogs has a rather buggy demo for windows - you should check it out for a really good example of how to integrate nice graphics and sounds into a roguelike, without a cumbersome or hard to use interface. It was in fact the very first roguelike that I ever played.

Also, (since it was mentioned here a couple times), I've been playing KoL on and off for a couple years.
